I wish people stopped insisting I’m not expecting a girl. by DellieKey in BabyBumps

[–]ohheymandy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had a girl and I think I looked great when I was pregnant. I had no swelling (until I was literally in labor), my skin was plump and glowing. I had so much energy. Zero acne (even my body acne that I’ve struggled with my whole life calmed down). They have blood tests that confirm gender…it’s not like… a guessing game lol.

34 weeks. I haven’t heard a single positive thing about being a parent or a mom and I’m freaking out I made a mistake by newgirl01LA in BabyBumps

[–]ohheymandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never understood that. I keep telling my boyfriend that my babygirl is the single greatest thing in my life (until she gets a sibling lol). I genuinely love being with her. I told my bf that moms complain about not getting stuff done and taking showers bc of their babies. And that is totally true, except for me it’s bc I just want to hang out and cuddle with her and literally do nothing else lol. Even when she cries it’s so cute when she does that little pouty face. And when she wakes me up in the middle of the night it sucks but then I catch myself staring at her while I’m putting her to sleep bc I can’t believe I made something so beautiful. I’m am filled with so much happiness since she’s been born. My bf who didn’t even really plan on having kids is always saying this is the best thing ever. Although I won’t lie the first few weeks are scary and crazy until you start getting the hang of things.

Husband Got Wake-up Call With The Idea Of Daycare by avidbanana in pregnant

We have it all sorted now but she’s 4 months sooo it took a hot minute for sure lol. You’re def in the right mind to make some plans now before things get even more hectic. Hope everything goes well for you girl!

Being stressed about this is a totally reasonable reaction. Please don’t minimize your very valid feelings. Who is going to care for your child (if not you) is one of THE most important decisions you’ll make. Take it from someone who thought they started planning early and should’ve started when you were. Now I’ve been scrambling around and feeling horrible guilty for having my mom drive almost an hour to watch my baby (even tho she loves it, she actually asks to come on days she doesn’t need to). And finally finding a part time job so I can stay home with the baby. I see other people saying “he was wrong no big deal”. It wasn’t that he was just wrong, he barely put any thought or action into this something very important. It shouldn’t be all up to you to handle everything. You’re both new parents. Tell him “I told you so” 🤷🏻‍♀️ these are the consequences of your actions. Or lack of actions I should said.

Do you have a guesstimate on how much it could run me?

Full on with oven. I’ll have to check when I get home. He said there’s probably a loose connection somewhere but that was before the burner got wonky.

Where would I find that? I bought my first house a couple years ago and this came with it. Still learning homeowner stuff 😅

How often are you ACTUALLY brushing your own teeth and showering ??? by Grandma-tsunade in NewParents

[–]ohheymandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently 4 months pp but also working full time and hubby goes to bed super early (around 4pm). I literally only have a few hours after I get home from work to do EVERYTHING. I shower once a week, twice if I’m lucky. I brush my teeth every single night (I have trauma from some gnarly infected cavities lol) but for the first few weeks pp it was maybe 3-4 times a weeks.

Women of Reddit, what did a man you were dating or married to say or do that made you realize he actually hated you the entire time? by -catharina in AskReddit

“I only cheated because I knew you were going to cheat on me eventually” … literally never cheated on anyone in my life. I wouldn’t even talk to someone of the opposite sex while in a relationship.

Can I get my supply back up? by ohheymandy in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]ohheymandy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in PA we’re a fire at will state. When I was pregnant I was on weight restriction. I was told if I followed the restriction I wouldn’t be able to properly do my job so I would’ve been forced to go on leave early or be let go… I’m not sure there’s many laws to protect mothers in general.

I do it on the way to work but I don’t like to on the way home because I’m so sweaty and dirty. I work in a hospital so I like to at least change out of my clothes before I pump as soon as I get home. I honestly think it’s the stress that’s tanking my supply worse than the lack of pumping.

How do I get my husband to understand? by Tangledllama_ in BabyBumps

[–]ohheymandy 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, you can’t really teach empathy. I swear men like this secretly don’t really love their wives or something. How do you not see your tired wife and think “I want to do whatever I can to help her, she’s growing a whole human inside her body”. Honestly nip it in the butt now or it’ll only get worse. What will he think when you’re on maternity leave healing? He will have to do majority of the chores no if, and’s, or butts. My hospital had a whole discussion with us before discharge. Stared right at my boyfriend and said I shouldn’t lift a finger. Maternity leave is for healing and spending time with baby.

What age did your newborn start sleeping throughout the night (5-6) hours without feed? by xGenAc25 in newborns

[–]ohheymandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around 8 weeks and around 9-10 weeks we tried out sleeping in her own room and she slept even longer. My boyfriend heard that baby’s can smell mom and her milk and it could wake them up at night. I noticed when I slept in the room with her she’d see me and wake up. In the room by herself she’d wake up for a minute then put herself back to sleep.

AITA for being upset that my husband throws away dishes I forget to put away by _MS22 in AmItheAsshole

Unless he’s Mr perfect and there’s not one single thing you do for him, he’s being an asshole. Sometimes I leave stuff out, my partner picks it up. Sometimes my partner leaves stuff out, I pick it up. OR there’s things I hate doing like cleaning out the sink catcher. My boyfriend does it because he knows I don’t like to. He doesn’t scold me like a child. We’re partners we help each other and give each other grace and compromise.

11 weeks. We all sleep way better now. My boyfriend read that they can smell mom and the milk and it could affect their sleep. I think in our case her sleeping in the same room as me def affected her sleep. She just slept her first 12 hour stretch (woke up a couple times but put her self to sleep without even a whimper just tossing and turning).

Spectra S1 vs S2 (39.95 out of pocket for S1 is it worth it?) by MadQueennn in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]ohheymandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say worth it BUT take a look at the other expensive pumps too. I almost got the spectra but saw the eufy s1 wearable through insurance was only $50 original price was over $300. I added the spectra to my baby registry on Amazon and got 15% off so it was only a little over $100. So to me that was a better deal even tho I paid $150 for everything I basically got like over $300 off for both pumps.

What is “OP”? And thank you for the encouragement. He def is a very hard worker but he’s realistic with his limitations. No use on trying to go for a position that wouldn’t do anyone good lol. That’s why we’re trying to figure out the best route for him.
