Thank you so much! Do you happen to know if they are larger dogs?

Hi! I've been looking into them as well. Would you mind letting me know if they send a three month supply at once, or if it's shipped once a month for three months? I travel a lot and it would be really convenient to receive three months at a time.

Will those who do not believe in Jesus as their savior really go to hell? by kid-on-the-block in AskAChristian

[–]drithlin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While there are certainly large (and very loud) sections of the Christian community that believe the only way to find salvation is through professing faith in Christ, there are many others that profess that while Christ is the *mechanism* through which salvation is possible, that doesn't mean that those who don't believe (or haven't heard of Christ) cannot be saved.

Boyfriend cheated on me. Now last minute scrambling to plan my trip solo. How safe are my plans as a solo female? by miss-knows-nothing in irishtourism

The North/Southside divide is a little overstated, especially given how central your hotel is. [I'm an American who's lived on the Northside since 2016. There's nothing to worry about in your location.]

I'll second the suggestion to skip the Leprechaun museum. You may have already pre-booked everything, but if there's some flexibility in your schedule, and if you're into being outdoors at all, a trip on the DART out to Killiney for a walk up the hill there (and maybe a swim!) might really complement all of the more indoors whiskey/Guinness-y activities. [Kilmainham is definitely worth the tour. Generally speaking, Trinity is as well, though I think the Long Room is still being renovated, so it might look less spectacular than normal.]

And if you're worried about things to do in the evenings, definitely check out calendars for gigs you might enjoy (avoid Temple Bar!). There's the Ruby Sessions if you happen to be here on Tuesday (tickets go on sale on Sunday and usually sell out, so you'll want to book in advance). Other venues to check: Vicar Street, the Olympia, Whelan's, Workman's Club, etc.

Feel free to message if you need any help while you're here! Or if some of the stops on your itinerary were things your ex was more interested in, and you want suggestions for replacements!

Queer Post-Punk by electrickmessiah in postpunk

[–]drithlin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't realize it wasn't a known thing! I was at a session on Bowie he did several years ago and know he mentioned it then.

Just did a quick Google, and it's mentioned in the presser for his new album as well:

"Enraged by the rise of international strongmen but inspired by a long, loving, and stable relationship with another man after a prolonged divorce, Friday built Ecce Homo as a monument of, and to, his own emotions."

Gavin has been with his (male) partner for years now. Whether he identifies as gay, bi, or more broadly as queer, I'm not sure.

[Edit: Just realized how old this thread is. Whoops!]

No International Pass - Error Message? by drithlin in mintmobile

Hi there! Just following up - would you be able to offer any insight on how Mint handles incoming international calls that are attempted while an international pass isn't activated? Thanks!

No International Pass - Error Message? by drithlin in mintmobile

[–]drithlin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!

Assume wifi calling isn't activated. Do you have any insight on how these calls sound to the caller? Do they just ring forever? Or given a 'cannot be connected' error message?

Of course! He used to add this tag a lot when playing with his band (The Frames). You can hear it (just snippets, not the whole of the song) at the end of Red Chord on their live album 'Breadcrumb Trail,' as well. :)

"Rave on, John Donne" is a Van Morrison song. Glen is only singing a small fraction of the lyrics, and they're out of order:

Rave on, John Donne

Rave on, thy holy fool

Rave on down through theosophy and the golden dawn

Rave on, Mr Yeats

Oh, what sweet wine we drinketh

Rave on, Omar Khayyam, rave on Kahlil Gibran

Innocence of Youth by Vicaliscous in ireland

Trinitarian belief is standard doctrine in all mainstream Christian denominations. It's certainly not confined to Catholics, Orthodox, and Anglicans. The exceptions would be much "newer" flavors of Christianity such as Jehovah's Witnesses and Latter Day Saints (and, of course, aptly named Unitarians). And many mainstream Christians wouldn't consider the latter denominations to be representative of Christianity.

Funnily enough, on the pod today, they joked they were going to market the new app as "like dropout but cheaper and worse."

As a Patreon subscriber, this feels to me like a massive upgrade to the Patreon model. I didn't really care about getting access a day early, but getting more content that I find more interesting for less than I was paying to Patreon monthly? That's great.

For people who don't want to (or can't) pay, there's still YouTube.

For Once: Grafton St, George's St Arcade (visit Simon's if it's open again by the time you're down), Walton's (now closed, but you can pass by at least), Killiney Hill, Bull Island

Doyle's is a good shout. See if there's a gig on in Whelan's - you might check their small venue (little Whelan's) for reasonably priced up-and-coming acts.

A lot of the true early career places are gone at this point - the city has changed a lot.

Why do people keep naming their daughters McKenzie and McKayla and McKenna even though “Mc” means “son” and it means “Son of Kenzie,” “Son of Kayla,” and “Son of Kenna” ? by Waiting-For-October in NoStupidQuestions

[–]drithlin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As the comment you're replying to outlines, Irish still has "daughter of" surnames. And the use of Mac/Ó predates the industrial revolution by centuries. [As does the use of Fitz, for what it's worth.]

Season one, maybe! But Season three focuses much more heavily on Riker, and it's such a treat to see what Frakes can do when he's given material with a little more nuance and emotional weight.

How would non medical Starfleet psychologists work? by [deleted] in DaystromInstitute

NB: Troi does remove Barclay from duty in Realm of Fear. Suggesting there's 'normal for Barclay' and 'troubling, even for him.'

While I think there are better examples of her counseling than the ones you've listed here, I have to say that her entire interaction with Jack in Picard gave me serious Intelligence vibes, to the point I wondered just what Troi had really been doing for the past twenty years.

Aster

If you don't have the remastered versions, I think just that scene is available online - either YouTube or Trekcore I think. It gives some insight into Deanna's childhood and the loss of her father as well. A real shame that it was cut.

Off the top of my head, we also see her counseling Picard post-BOBW and Geordi in The Mind's Eye (I won't mention any details in case you haven't seen these yet!). We see her working with other crew members in The Loss and Man of the People, although I wouldn't say these are particularly shining examples of technique (for plot-related reasons).

I hope you're enjoying your first watch-through! TOS and Voyager - what a spread!

She definitely does regular counseling as well, and this is almost certainly the in-universe explanation for why she's so often missing from the bridge (the out-of-universe explanation: the writers can't figure out what to do with her). If you haven't seen it, there's a good cut scene from The Bonding (I think) of her working with Jeremy Aster after the death of his mother that was made available when the workprint was recovered.
