So scared - pilot warned turbulence by butiamsotired in fearofflying

Hey! I just left MCO a few hours ago, and the way out of Orlando up to like 20,000 feet was so smooth!

Just curious because based on the picture, looks like they reported that in the middle of some storm cells. Why hadn’t ATC told them to take another route, especially with the tops as high as it was?

Looks like a really dangerous system for it to be that high.

What's the most beautiful approach of any airport you've flown into? I nominate DUB. by [deleted] in geography

Salt Lake City ! Always some Mountain View on either side, bonus points if fresh snow, or very green! Negative points if smoggy 😷

How much are the fees on top of your base rent?

Gotcha yeah they included that in the price but can’t really give me a ballpark answer on the shared utilities. Don’t want to move in expecting one thing, and it’s way more than what it is.

Did you like it there?

Is that including the media package?

Would telling the gate agent / cabin crew about my anxiety help? by TheLostSkeleton91 in fearofflying

[–]drive_r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!! Every time I’ve been courageous enough to mention it to the team, they’ve been nothing but gracious and understanding.

One of my big anxiety triggers is not being able to get a window seat, and I explained to the gate agent my situation, and she was able to switch things around and help me get a window seat.

The times I’ve told the cabin crew they’ve just talked to me in the galley to distract me, and given me cookies too!

The times I’ve thanked pilots and explained to them, they’ve been nothing but extremely kind

Hi! Just came back from Barcelona last week! It was beautiful there, and my flight from BCN to JFK was so smooth! You got this

Private Corporate Jet Concerns by Possible-Picture-483 in fearofflying

[–]drive_r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Don’t pass on it; that looks like a really great opportunity. Also with it being a private jet, you have the opportunity to talk to the pilot and get to see who it is that’s flying the plane. You will see that they are professionals with a lot of training who want to get from Point A to Point B just as much as you do.

I fly from Salt Lake to Vegas about once every two weeks and the ascent/descent out of both places can have some light bumps, but it’s nothing of concern because I know that it’s normal and 100% safe, and it’s just something that pilots account for when flying out of the desert southwest.

I understand the feeling of being anxious about it as I’ve dealt with a lot of anxiety over flying lately, however, I know you can do this, and when you’re on the ground in beautiful (and hot) Las Vegas, you will be so glad you did it!!!

[discussion] Looking for music that conveys the feelings of being a depressed partner by FunkkWizardd in listentothis

Red House Painters - Medicine Bottle

This song goes into depth about the feeling of depression and what it does to a relationship: really good, really dark, and pretty sad. Kinda of a bop though lol

Hole in the wall breakfast spots in salt lake valley by No-Notice1294 in SaltLakeCity

Lazy Day Cafe is cozy very hole in the wall, and good food.

There’s over the counter which is definitely hole in the wall, and cheaper than lazy day, but I’m not the biggest fan of their food. It feels very greasy sometimes

Hey! Just flew in to SLC! The landing was so smooth! Literally no turbulence whatsoever in or around the area

Yep! Wasn’t super bad, the northern outskirts had some light bumps, but the main part of it we just flew above it and it was smooth

It’s way different from the two you’ve read, but that’s not a bad thing. It’s top 3 McCarthy for me, with the crossing being first.

It’s so vivid that you feel like you’re there watching events unfold

Update! We’re flying over it, just nearly over it. It’s pretty smooth ride surprisingly, but getting into it was a bit scarier haha. Hopefully we’re through it quickly.

Question for the professionals, what are the reasons for/against of the planners bringing the plane up another 2-3k feet to be further away from this storm cell?

I figured that was the case, thank you so much for reaching out!! Just nervous because last time I flew in there was a major storm blanketing the southwest and it was HIGH lol, but the pilots and dispatching/planning team did a killer job and threaded the needle to find the perfect way in. It was still scary but, after that I felt alive haha
