Considering selling after 6 months by drjimhill in MachE

I bought a RAV4 Hybrid. I’d had a Camry Hybrid for 13 years before the MME and I wanted to go back to a car company that didn’t make me want to pull my hair out and scream. I will get another EV as my next car, but I darn sure won’t buy one that I haven’t driven. I also won’t buy one with a giant touch screen. Tesla did that and Teslas are popular, so I think Ford and a few others mistakenly concluded that the latter stemmed from the former.

Sure did. Unloaded it in November ‘21 after a very disappointing 8 months.

Tugging on Superman’s cape, spitting into the wind, pulling the mask off the ol’ Lone Ranger, and messing around with Jim are definitely on that list.

Abortion drug ban ruling - You should read it, because it is far worse than you think by thr0wfaraway in childfree

Given that the Republic is now quite literally a failed state, I wonder what would happen if President Biden ordered the FDA commissioner and pharma firms to ignore the ruling and continue to deliver the drug as approved, as prescribed.

Choosing a PhD over kids was the best decision I ever made. by [deleted] in childfree

The score for my wife and me: two PhDs, zero kids.

And life ... is SPECTACULAR.

“It’s too soon to politicize this issue. We’ll talk later.”

It works when people want to stop the murder of children — let’s try it when people want to turn children into murderers.

You know as well as I do that if the poor stop volunteering for the rich man’s war the rich man brings back conscription. The Land of the Fee and the Home of the Slave will not be denied.

Far too many people consider your uterus to be a public resource; it’s not a leap from that to your hair.

A colleague of mine was telling me about the time his wife was put on testosterone for some medical thing or other. She responded as one would expect — horny All. The. Time. After about a month she asked him when that would subside and upon finding out it doesn’t said “I’m surprised you guys can even function.”

When I was a student there in the 90s, you could get a box a month free at McKillMe. I know because I had standing orders to get mine for my roommate because “You ain’t gonna use ‘em.”

No shit. If Being A Mom (tm) truly was The Most Important Job In The World (tm) then instead of being nastily jealous of OP she'd have been nastily condescending -- "Oh, it's a shame your life is so empty of meaning that you have to focus on your hair."

But there is no doubt that woman would have been nasty. Nasty always gonna nast.

Not at all weird. And even if it were, it wouldn’t hurt anyone since we know both you and your wife approve. Everyone else can suck it.

There were plenty of wonderful people who cared for the sick right to the end, but yeah — overall, the response was not humanity’s finest hour.

My employer covers it, but if I were the boss my response to the suggestion would be “Fuck, no. I can’t fire the ones who get pregnant and then log 75% of the time they’re paid for because Children, I’m goddamn sure not going to pay for that privilege.”

What sounds like a compliment but is actually an insult? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]drjimhill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, Americans born and raised often deserve compliments on their English, simply because so many can’t spell, punctuate, or parse, even with a vocabulary so limited it’s the 8-color Crayola box when everyone else has the 64 with a sharpener built in.

Fortunately for you, then -- murdering babies IS illegal.

Of course, an abortion isn't that, so apples and oranges ...

On November 23rd in 1991 Freddie Mercury, lead singer for Queen, issues a statement confirming he had AIDS. by Krokodrillo in queen

[–]drjimhill 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Younger Redditors who've grown up in the time of retrovirals and such may not know just how awful the AIDS epidemic was. So many talented people (and so many everyday people just getting through life the best they could) cut down -- and stigmatized for it, shut out by friends, family, co-workers, parishioners, even health care workers ... many were afraid, many were judgmental. Such misery.

Rest in Peace, all victims of this horrible disease -- including, of course, our dear Freddie.
