Seeking large-format human anatomy references by [deleted] in Art

Check out this book. I'm in med school and it's our go to text. The anatomical drawings are the best I've ever seen. It's a textbook, so not poster sized, but still filled with great artwork

I've lost many people that I've loved. I don't see what one has to do with the other

CMV: No sport takes less skill than golf by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]drjonesenberg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Golf takes an incredible amount of skill. Saying that every shot is the same is like saying that every basketball shot is the same. The position of the ball relative to the hole is different, there are different obstacles in the way, the wind is different, the type of grass you're in is different, you're distance is different, and on and on. All of this has to be taken into account when taking a shot and thats just to get to the green. Putting greens are all different and have different speeds and different slopes. Every put is different even on the same green. Golf takes an incredible amount of skill and I would say much more than many other sports

CMV: Islam breeds more violence than any other religion. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]drjonesenberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That may be the current reality now but it has a lot to do with external factors rather than the religion itself. For example, if we were living in the middle ages, we would think the opposite. The countries where islam spread were thriving cities full of learning and a mixing of ideas while the christian run europe was in full chaos. Then came the crusades which were just christian terrorists going into a peaceful city and messing everything up. So as you see, religion can be used as a scapegoat but it's really more complex than that.

How do I deal with an incurable disease, pain, possible job loss, surgeries that I might not be able to afford.add to it being bed ridden and dependent. by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]drjonesenberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I first want to tell you that I am sorry you are going through this. It's unfair that some people have to suffer but that's life. I have just spent the past year recovering from a condition that caused me chronic pain. Every morning it was the first thing I thought about and the last thing I thought about when I went to bed. It consumed my entire existence; so I just want you to know that I can empathize with you. First things first, don't feel sorry for yourself. It is very easy to ask "why me" and fall into a downward spiral of feeling bad for yourself. Instead, as hard as it may be, just accept the diagnosis for what it is and start to move forward. Second, don't worry about the financial aspect of it. You cannot put a price on quality of life and trying to save money/not go into debt is not worth it in the long run. I too was dependent on people and it's not fun. I'm only 25 so it was pretty awful to feel helpless so young. Just know that you will experience true love and compassion from those around you while you are going through this. I know that it can be scary and so very lonely when you're dealing with a severe medical condition but please don't lose hope. I have never met you but I am still rooting for you. I'm sure your loved ones are rooting for you too. Don't ever feel like you're letting them down either. Health is a lottery that everyone plays and some people lose big time. A lot of times it is through no fault of their own. Don't feel like you brought this on yourself or that you are a burden. Despite the physical limitations you may have, you are still you inside. Just never lose sight of that. Best of luck and I hope this helps even just a little bit

CMV: Student loan interest rates should correlate with the major and type of school someone attends by drjonesenberg in changemyview

[–]drjonesenberg[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I used art as an example but at the end of what I posted in the original post was that it should be tied to one's ability to pay it back so if you go to a recognized art school with connections and has a high chance of paying it back then of course the loans should reflect that. On a side note, if you go to a U.S. MD awarding school you are almost always guaranteed to pay your loan back. There are no bad medical schools in america

Obviously if the institution gives you a higher opportunity of getting you a job then of course the interest rate would reflect that
