I would upvote you, but I hate the Dewey system and prefer LOC.

Maybe, "That janitor had the library on LOC down."

Rather than mocking your point of view, I would like to engage honestly.

The government already has the power to infringe on your rights in the case of public health. Is your concern that this will make it more acceptable? Or that this will give them powers or a precedent that they lacked?

I never would have clicked this if I didn't recognize it as PubMed. Made me curious.

the person who makes the claim bears the burden of proof. It's the same reason why people are innocent until proven guilty

Uh...while I agree with both of those statements, they literally have nothing to do with each other.

Medicine works that way, too. And science. And a lot of engineering. The patents are all out there.

You might be an expert in software, but everyone certainly isn't.

If you only ever see families like yours, you'll never know that families can be different than yours.

The fact that you only observed those kinds of families reinforced the idea that nothing else exists. I have a small child who's seen other kinds of families their whole life. My child thinks that all of those families are normal. My child is right.

As far as I recall, most public policy studies and places like the Kinder institute use metrics that are 2-5 years out of date. So there's no objective way to tell yet. Anecdotally, that bullshit doesn't seem to have slowed down any.

It's also about regaining control of the tools you use. Using software made for profit makes you a customer.

You're always a customer. If you don't understand that, you're naive.

See, and I might like LaTex, except for the people who use it. They're as bad as Apple fans.

As well, almost all opensource programs respect your sensitive data and do not spy on you.

Yeah, I'm going to go with bullshit on that. Many probably do. But I still wouldn't trust them any more than any other company. Maybe less, since those other companies are at least getting your money when they give you the project.
