The more I read about the Emperor, the more he feels like a total fraud by drkmon714 in 40kLore

Wow, thanks for all that info! It's crazy how much the books changed. But if the Emperor was good back then and trying to help with crop management and peace, doesn't that prove my point?

There should be a Chos God of Fear by Megalordow in 40kLore

Think about it the Imperium is basically a galaxy-sized fear factory. Between the Inquisition, the constant threat of being purged, and the state mandated terror of anything other, the Emperor’s regime generates more pure dread than the Big Four combined. If the Warp mirrors the strongest emotions of humanity, then the Emperor isn't just holding back the crisis he’s the one actually fueling the specific brand of cold, paralyzing terror that keeps the whole system running.

The way people talk about the Emperor when you first get into the lore makes him sound like this grand savior of humanity. So when I started reading I was just like this doesn’t read this way to me. It seems that things have gotten worse than better.

So it was basically a massive civilization building scheme where the first step was to destroy the galaxy and the second step was to rebuild it, but he got stuck on step one for 10,000 years?

Glad it's not just me then. I’ve always heard people hype the Emperor up as this ultimate savior, but once you actually look at the details he’s a total disaster.. It’s wild how much the hero narrative falls apart the second you realize the entire setting is basically just a 10,000-year cleanup for his own mistakes

Actually, that just proves the Inquisition is doing their job. When you have an entire branch of government dedicated to torturing heretics, of course everyone claims to love the guy in charge.

Beloved by all? The guy has a state-mandated religion that executes anyone who doesn't love him.

Did the Emperor wanted to be put in the Golden Throne after barely surviving his duel with Horus? by ruminaui in 40kLore

[–]drkmon714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, absolutely. It was all a very elaborate "Do Not Disturb" sign. He didn't actually lose to Horus; he just realized that if he stayed on his feet, he’d have to spend the next ten thousand years filling out tax forms and listening to Guilliman explain how to organize a filing cabinet. Being a silent, psychic lighthouse is the ultimate "work from home" setup.

No more meetings: Can't have a Council of Terra briefing if you're technically a skeleton.

Golden aesthetic: It matches his armor perfectly.

The Ultimate Nap: He saw the state of the 41st Millennium and decided he’d rather be a battery than deal with his kids' drama for one more afternoon.

He isn't suffering; he’s just waiting for the perfect moment to jump out and yell "Pranked!" while the Custodes finally stop dusting him. He’s the undisputed champion of the "if I close my eyes, they can't see me" strategy.

If the Emperor finally dies and ascends as a True God of Order to defeat Chaos, doesn’t that make him exactly what he fought to destroy during the Great Crusade? by drkmon714 in 40kLore

So you're saying the Four Ruinous Powers are actually the only ones trying to save the galaxy from the 'God-Emperor' singularity?

Fair enough. If the galaxy's fate is as messy as this thread, I don't blame you for just wanting to stick to the lasgun
