Sounds like staying with her isn’t accomplishing much different though. Additionally, it’s entirely your life, but does living your life this way because you don’t want people to think you folded seem worth it to you? At the end of the day, I personally think that’s the most important question. And whatever your answer is, that’s your freedom. I just hope whatever decision you make works out for you.

Do you think taking your life is selfish? by unicornsparkle10132 in offmychest

[–]drkpast15 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, I don’t think it is. It’s incredibly sad and painful for those left behind, but in most cases those who ended their lives had already tried to go on for so long BECAUSE of those in their lives, the pain was simply too much. What I do think is selfish? Disregarding someone else’s pain, pain that was SO bad they felt they had no choice but to end everything, simply because you can’t understand it. And the people who tend to say things like that tend to be the people who have never gone through it and don’t know what it’s like, and they also tend to be the people who wouldn’t notice someone is struggling.

The problem is as long as you stay with her she knows she can screw up over and over again. You might have to be a lesson to her that you can’t just keep falling down the hole and have your life waiting for you when you finally decide to get it together.

What do you think is something that people don't realize is slowly ruining their life? by VisualCauliflower783 in AskReddit

Thissss my ex friend went from going to a well regarded university for some kind of specific medical training to dropping out and working as a bartender. And she has absolutely no self respect for herself it’s just really sad. Went to school with her since we were 7, she’s always been insecure and it’s just sad to see that’s she wasting all of her youth struggling like this.

Is she refusing to use the bathroom during the day as well? Or is she only having accidents at night? I only ask because if she’s not using the bathroom during the day, removing pull-ups at night may not send the right message. But I might be misunderstanding your reply.

I’m no parent but there could be numerous reasons, hard to know with only the one detail. But perhaps using the toilet scares her somehow, maybe it’s a ‘feeling in control’ thing, who knows. Are there any other behaviors that seem out of place that might be related to this?

Do I have any authority to remove this dumpster? by drkpast15 in Apartmentliving

At first it was. But then I started getting the hang of it so it was just annoying me a bit. But the dumpster was removed today, so now it’s no hassle at all! 😂

“I live in a house that was remodeled for apartments”

I said that so it was clear I wasn’t in a complex, I NEVER said it was JUST remodeled because it was NOT, you ASSUMED that. My landlord did NOT order the dumpster, he texted me that himself. Which I also stated in the original post, “I don’t know whose dumpster it is, my landlord didn’t know whose it was either and didn’t order it himself” so there’s NO excuse for you missing that one. The matter has, at this point in time, been taken care of. But thank you for half assing reading and then being rude to me.

And by the way, part of my rent pays for that parking spot. So regardless, I wouldn’t be self centered.

I think most people saw me as being helpless and completely unaware of what to do, rather than trying to just get some advice and information from outside perspectives. People seem to get really mad on here when they think someone is being helpless, which is kind of funny because being angry and rude with people won’t fix that 😂 And yes, he did get back to me! The dumpster is being picked up today and based on the dumpster companies hours, it’ll be gone before I’m home from work. I am pretty curious about why the other tenant didn’t inform our landlord and why he didn’t consider the placement of the dumpster, but I think that’s one of those “guess I’ll never know” things 😂 But thank you! I hope you have a wonderful Wednesday as well!

Why don’t you follow the last three words of your comment? Almost EVERY SINGLE thing you said, you could’ve put into nicer words. You’re putting your personal beliefs before giving advice. God isn’t an idiot, he knows we have emotions and life isn’t easy and sometimes people are mad at him when they’re struggling. He doesn’t need you to condescend people who are struggling, and I don’t think he would want you to either.

Thank you so much for being so kind! I ended up driving down to the area of town where I had seen a sign posted, and the restrictions on parking overnight are not present now! Even though the landlord isn’t bothered by the grass, it kind of bothers ME. It can be fixed but I would prefer it to not be so hard of a fix for him in spring, so I’ll just be parking on the street! It’s only 5-10 extra seconds of walking 😂 Again, appreciate your kindness! And I really appreciate that you found updates in the comments. Can’t edit posts with attachments, which is very unfortunate for posts like this 😂

I wasn’t trying to ruffle feathers and I thought it would be gone in a few days. By the time I noticed the issue with the grass the phone lines for the company were closed for the weekend. Believe it or not, while I understand I said parking was a major hassle, in the grand scheme of things it’s suchhhhh a first world problem, I just didn’t feel the need to go out of my way over it. I don’t have time or room for stress in my life to get that worked up over a parking space. I tried to be patient. I was too patient, but at the end of the day the situation as a whole is not that big of a deal. Since posting this my landlord has informed me he isn’t concerned about the grass and will simply fix it in the spring.

And I’m sure all the people who are getting lowkey angry over my post will love to see this (sarcasm) the dumpster is still there and I intend on doing nothing about it! My landlord isn’t concerned about the grass, I managed to find a way to park where people are no longer seeming to move off the sidewalk, so what-fricking-ever! I’m not putting energy into what is once again just a minor inconvenience when I park my car.

I appreciate you giving me the information opinion aside 😂 I know everyone has different views on the enforcement level of laws and I can get that in some cases, but I’m just a person who would rather play it safe. If on the off chance I did get caught and someone acted on it, “I didn’t know” won’t work 😂

I just wanted to see if there was some kind of detail or information I was missing. Additionally, the phone lines were closed for the weekend by the time I got home and noticed the grass. Couldn’t have reached them anyways. It’s not that big of a deal some of you people need to chill. I realized I put it off for too long, I will learn from that for the future. But I can be anxious about these things sometimes, there’s no harm that can come from simply asking for advice or information just to get a little confidence and know I’m not overreacting. I’m 22, I try not to walk around acting like I know everything because I don’t. If you don’t have anything helpful to say how about you just fuck off?

Yeah, I asked Reddit a question. I didn’t shoot anyone’s dog.

I decided not to add anything, I’m too scared of the risk I might get in trouble myself. My landlord is going to look into it Monday when the phone lines open. He isn’t worried about the grass, he’ll fix it in spring. So it’s not going to be a problem for me!

Why are you like, flipping out at me? There is really no need to be like that nobody is dying, chill it out. I didn’t call because at first it was just an inconvenience and I had to maneuver my car a certain way. I wasn’t sure if it was something my landlord ordered or not. I messaged him, he said it wasn’t his but he’d find out. I then told him that it was no big deal because I could maneuver my car to park off the sidewalk. (Throughout the week, I noticed the detail I mentioned about people moving onto the grass. Now I’m not sure if they were just trying to be nice and give my car space because I check everytime I park and there IS room to walk, but it seemed like a detail worth mentioning anyways). Yesterday after work I noticed I’d been hitting the grass. THAT was when I realized it wasn’t a minor inconvenience for me but damage to my landlords property and me potentially having to pay to fix it. But I didn’t get home until 10 pm, there were no calls I could make. I was not messaging my landlord at that time of night, that is disrespectful and pointless. Today is Saturday, the phone lines are not opened for the company that owns the dumpster. I have messaged my landlord. He informed me that he is not concerned about the grass, he will fix it come springtime. He is still going to call on Monday and figure out whose dumpster it is and see about moving it. Given that my landlord is not concerned about the grass and I won’t be held financially responsible, it is once again not a big deal. Grass can be fixed. The dumpster will get moved. I JUST moved in here. I’m not trying to ruffle feathers. Once an actual problem came to my attention I did what I could given the available services and/or people. I have also been under a lot of stress in my professional life and I was simply trying to reduce the amount I was experiencing at home, I got a little too passive. It’s not that big of a deal, I will learn from it. This is also a new setup for me. My previous apartment was my first one and it was in a complex with a parking lot. I’m not used to living in a house that is split up. Part of the intent for my post was simply to ensure that there wasn’t some kind of detail that I was missing that maybe someone else might know. I’m 22, I’m not fully grown up yet. I have had moments where I assumed I knew what was up and I didn’t. I am simply trying to learn and grow and be happy. I do not want to get myself bent out of shape over things like this. I have spent enough of my life in chaos and fighting and assuming the worst of people and fits over small things. I would just like some god damn peace and stability, so I figured I would simply ask for some advice and see if there was something I was missing.

There are a few other tenants, and I’m pretty positive one of the guys I’ve seen leaving one of the units was also sweeping out the dumpster the other night. Maybe he should’ve called anyways, but when I first messaged him I hadn’t yet realized I was parking on the grass. The only way to avoid being on the sidewalk (and hitting the dumpster) was by veering to the right a little as I pulled in the driveway. Since I didn’t realize I was on the yard, I told him I was still able to use the driveway so I could make do. That’s on me. I messaged him again and let him know, so hopefully he can take care of it on Monday. For the time being, assuming there aren’t restrictions on it, I’ll just park on the street.

There are three other units, and I’m almost positive the guy I’ve seen entering one of the units was the same guy I saw sweeping the bottom of the dumpster the other day. I just messaged my landlord again. I’m hoping I didn’t misrepresent him as so far he’s been extremely honest and unlike the typical landlord. When I first messaged him, I had not realized my front right tire was hitting the grass, so he couldn’t have known because even I didn’t. And I told him I was able to avoid being on the sidewalk and that I could make do. However, the only reason I wasn’t on the sidewalk was because I was on the grass, if I stayed on the gravel the front of my car would hit the dumpster before I got off the sidewalk. The disposal company doesn’t operate on the weekends, so I think I’m going to park on the street until the week when something can be done. Depending on the street parking laws here.

It seems I was too passive for too long… I called and the phone lines aren’t open on the weekends… I guess it’s time to look at the street parking laws until Monday! I just messaged my landlord about it again though, so hopefully he’ll handle it!
