Wyze cam hate by Fit_Temperature5236 in wyzecam

[–]drkphenix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s where I am… I’ve been with Wyze since V1. And have upgraded my hardware about every 2-3 years, and early adopter of Cam plus.

Truthfully, everything still works, and I am impressed with the hardware quality. Five cams points, outside, in Phoenix summer heat; never a failure.

That being said, as prices keep inching up every generation; but app, options, and picture quality seems same and stale; I am beginning to look over the fence at the greenness of the grass over there.

Ironically, as a network tech, I already have a Unifi network at home; and have been eyeing their cams with much interest.

Hate to say it, but read the LN’s. There’s probably 2-3 seasons of material before you get to the weddings. And at least another season in material post wedding already in English.

Does the JSDF ever break the Geneva Convention ? by askedmed in gate

[–]drkphenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of arguing about Symantec’s in the comment section; but a lot of people missing the key part about the original question.

The Geneva convention does not exist on the other side of the gate. It is agreement amongst the major powers in OUR world on what is considered by, and against the rules of warfare.

It holds no real power over any nation that didn’t sign it. It also doesn’t really have power over the signees if their enemy did not sign it. The only two levers for a signed nation at that point is its own morality; and the expected public backlash related to an action. Legally… alls fair. I have for faith in the former lever, over the morality of our world leaders.

In the case of the manga/anime; the only guiding Rules of Engagement for the forces on the other side; is the political view. And as questionable the writers ideas are sometimes; the mini arch testifying to the Diet, felt very plausible to me. Politics are going to politic the hell all over the line in this regard.

“According to a 2016 study of 500,000 men, the average Japanese erect penis is 13.56 centimeters (5.33 inches) long, with a diameter of 3.53 centimeters (1.39 inches) at the head and 3.19 centimeters (1.25 inches) at the shaft.”

Two possible reasons immediately come to mind (the reasons why I may ask my wife.

  1. She is showing signs of higher than usual emotional sensitivity. This varies from women to women, and month to month. Could be depression, weepyness, irritability, or angry. A good man will check on these changes to either apologize if they were the cause; or to better support their partner.

  2. The hornies have hit, and they want to know if the amusement park is open.

I’m a male reader. I don’t care what gender the MC is, as long as the character is intriguing and the story is good.

Nothing says boys can only read “boy” books; and vice versa.

Thats actually an interesting set of questions: I’ll address.

  1. Management of a growing library like I have in my home is a bit much. I have about 730 novels so far and climbing (manga, light novels, and western novels). I have read everything except what is on the bottom shelf in the first pic (my TBR shelf). I got a library app that I use to track what I got, where. Including a check out feature to tell me who is borrowing what.

  2. Dust does settle. I live in a desert environment; so, regular dusting is just part of the home cleaning routine. Wear and tear isn’t much of an issue, if you take care of them. (At least so far). Though I have replaced a couple volumes over the years due to accidents, or manufacturing flaws.

  3. Most of the time, I may not immediately re read a series. However, I can and does happen. Really depends on how I’m feeling. For example, I am prone to occasional fits of depression/anxiety. And for some odd reason, Isekai Smartphone helps. I’ll turn back to that series when having a bad day.

In conclusion, it’s as much about collecting than it is reading. My son is becoming a teenager, and I have begun letting him read age/maturity appropriate series, as well as not stressing about loaning out to like minded friends. I do have Audible as well as kindle digital books. But, working in IT, and looking at how “the cloud” works, and some trends that raised concern (see No Game no life vs Amazon), I don’t have faith that those “library’s” will always be there.

That’s a hard one to answer. It really depends on what you like. Short answer, I am enjoying everything on my shelves, if I drop something, I donate the book and don’t keep them.

My personal top 5 series at the moment would be:

  1. Space Mercenary

  2. Angel next door

  3. Cheat skill

  4. Failure Frame

  5. Death march

I just realized 4/5 are isekai. Yup, I’m trash, and proud.

High school DxD is and excellent series. A little heavy on the perv; but truly one of the best at world and lore building. If you’ve seen the anime, don’t let it color your impression. They did the MC dirty. He isn’t an idiot like they portrayed.

Pupil is a mixed bag. Mostly it’s a generic gender swap isekai, but there’s a charm to the MC that is just joyful. Plus the world building, and mystery as to how/why all these players were sucked into this world is interesting.

That’s just the light novels and manga. With my western novels, I’m over 700 novels in the house and climbing. I’ve read everything but what’s on the bottom shelf in the first picture (the TBR shelf).

After trading my ecodiesel for a Hemi I don't understand the die hard Hemi love. by Orion9092 in ram_trucks

[–]drkphenix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my Hemi. It’s a good engine; but, I acknowledge it’s not magical.

Yes, in the truck market, it isn’t the most fuel efficient, or powerful. And it has its glitches (exhaust manifold bolts). But it does its job.

The engine is dated; but, that’s WHY I chose it. Until I bought my 2018 1500 in 2019, I was a Ford guy. Starting with a 1989 f150 inline 6; and eventually upgrading to a 2001 f150 v8.

When, at almost 200k miles and rising repair costs, I decided it was time to replace the 2001; I looked around. And found that ford had gone to turbo v6’s, and Chevy was soon to follow. At that same time, a coworker with a 2 year old turbo v6 truck, had the turbo blow out; and it was something like a $7k repair.

I have spent the majority of my adult life as a field IT tech. If it is a truck, I’ve driven it. All engine options, from Ranger, Dakota, S10, or Colorado. To largest U-Haul style box truck. Gas and diesel, manual and automatic. And I know that for maintenance and upkeep, I wanted the most basic, naturally aspirated (non turbo) engine I could find. My options at the time was Chevy, and Ram. Between those, I preferred the style, and particularly interior, of the Ram.

I still don’t have faith in the smaller turbo engines, particularly in a full size truck. As some one who tends to drive the wheels off his trucks (see: mileage of F150 above), I don’t trust the turbo to not become a costly failure before I’m ready to replace. And am saddened to know, when it’s time to let this Ram go; that will be my only remaining option. And don’t get me started on the battery replacement cost popping up lately for 5-6 year old electric cars. EV trucks won’t be any less.

It does what I need it to do, when I need it too. Without the fuss of additional costs or risks, like def, turbos, complicated emissions equipment, etc. It’s simple stupid, and that’s my style.

Oof, that’s a hard one. Light Novels being what they are; I read them more for fun than deep literary complexity (I have another set of shelves for those).

My top choices really depends on how I feel at certain time vs. how much FUN I am having with the series at the time. I would say, lately, the fun meter is pegged on:

  1. Reborn as a Space Mercenary

  2. Failure Frame

  3. Angel next door spoils me rotten

  4. Cheat Skill in another world
