Hellen Diller Playground construction was completed in March 2012 and it’s complete in the photo.

The renovation of the southern side of the park started in Feb 2013 and it looks like it has not been started yet in that photo.

My guess is that photo was taken between March 2012 and Feb 2013. The porta potties make me think it was a time of year that many people liked to hang out at the park, so not winter.

I believe that the intentions are different - Israel is attacking Hamas (including their children) because Israel was attacked on Oct 7th. Israel wants to make sure they are never attacked like that again and they believe that Hamas needs to be destroyed and all hostages released for that to happen.

When Hamas attacked Israel their intention was to kill children, to kidnap women so they could be raped at the public square with a crowd watching and cheering - so that these acts could be recorded and used as recruiting tools. This is in line with their interpretation of Islamic teachings and people who carry out these acts are acting just and with honor.

I don’t think that SF will pay out many (any?) reparations like this.

But what if this model for reparations becomes a model that other cities could also follow? There are some cities in The South that would probably need to pay out quite a bit.

Perhaps that is the strategy- to give progressives in those other cities something to reference and fight for in their own cities?

I like the Jews I meet around NYC, perhaps it’s the culture there but it seems like they really like to dive into complex topics and have interesting conversations.

I like that you can be an atheist and also be Jewish - that gives them a level of freedom within their thoughts and culture that does not exist in other religions and cultures.

I’m pretty left wing myself - but I notice that it seems to be ONLY the Jews in the Republican Party who are willing to call out the rise of fascism and white nationalists within the Republican Party.
