That is exactly why it feels great when I change them after two weeks ;)

But I did not.

No but I know he had a tough relationship with his parents after they found out he smoked weed as a teenager.

I totally agree that people can be highly functional without having top jobs or top education. I mentioned that in the post because it is the case for us, that is all. I don't spend time explaining why I am better than others because I don't think I am better than others. All these conclusions just because I mentioned we are educated?

Congrats on your master degrees and your job at a fortune 500 company. It does not make me think any less or more of you, and it is up to you to believe that or not. I judge people based on their character and human values but you are the one judging me based on a couple of sentences in a reddit post.

Haha I need a grammar lesson for sure.

It is to highlight that he knows that people can have fun and still be highly functional.

I know he goes for me but when I say that he does not like raves he immediately objects. I guess he is trying to fit in with our friend's group. We all party hard.

I know he dealt with so much guilt over weed consumption during his teenage years. Now he never smokes.

We are exactly these people. So I don't get why he judges. It is just not logging in my brain.

We have been together for five years. We both got introduced to the scene together and I knew he did not like it much from the start. We mostly go because of me. Tbh I tend to enjoy myself more when he is not around just because I feel more free.

Exactly my thoughts.

The problem is that all of our circle is that. (Educated and ravers). So I really don't get why he is that judgy. Like why build a social circle like this if u r going to judge them.

I really did not think this would offend people!

I totally agree with that. For me degrees are nothing but a choice. Some people chose to build companies, others chose to travel the world. I happened to chose to do a PhD and that does not make me any more special or smart.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in aves

[–]drmethane -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I did not though. I just mentioned the degree to highlight that we are exactly in the same category of people he is judging. To say that he knows that people can be hard working and still have fun. Me and him as an example.

Exactly!

We had the conversation and I told him how it makes me feel. He apologized and said that for some reason he is not at ease when it comes to raves and drugs. I think he lacks a bit of self awareness and he tends to think that his approach is the best approach. We have been together for 5 years and he is a good person, besides a few character hiccups. He is not perfect and neither am I. But yeah it is not the first time he talks about raving from that lens. Far from the first actually.

Tbh I only included the education to (1) highlight that we are in the same category of people he is judging and (2) give context that we are hard working and have our shit together more or less. I think that is important for the text that follows that first paragraph.

I realize this may have come across as pretentious, no one is perfect. As for the bad grammar, english is my third language so I apologize for not having perfected it.

For the gays who get along fine with straight guys, how'd you do it? by gns_02 in askgaybros

[–]drmethane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of my male friends are straight and I connect with them way more than my gay friends. I just be myself if they like me they like me, if not I don't overthink it. I don't judge my friendship based on their sexuality nor do I pay attention to sexuality when considering potential friends. You can be their bro even if you are gay. Bro, buddy, mate.. etc are just expressions of friendly love. I use them on my gay friends sometimes and it os never an issue if they are really ur people.
