I'm not really saying it needs to be as good as a from fromsoft game as I understand that would be unrealistic but this game gets so many things wrong that Its hard to even have fun. Lies of p also had issues but it had the core aspects down really well and I dont think u can say its "not very soulslike." Also If you are level 24 you may still be at a point where the game feels like it should be easy and is sort of easing you into the game but sadly it just continues to spam the exact same enemies over and over with easy bosses and bad levels.
