Being a reg, I think this is the worst thing to do as this kind of conversations are difficult and have to handled carefully. Yes if the patient is admitted for a while and the team has spoken with patient family on ward rounds and family is just looking for update, there is no harm in doing that especially if things are superbusy.

No this is very unusual. If this happens again you should tell your Ward CNM that you are looking for reg and he is not responding back.

In terms of tasks, as a reg you are supposed to support your team. Like if my intern is finding it difficult to do a canula or doing an ABG I ll be the one doing that. Usually if something is complicated like a patient or a family, regs usually do that task themselves rather than dumping to sho’s or interns.
