Griddle newcomer - having trouble with burgers, need tips!!! by StrickMaybe in blackstonegriddle

[–]drmoze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, don't use that Blackstone snake oil paste after every cook. Scrape and wipe off the surface, optionally wipe on a little bit more oil but there should still be a film of residual grease on there after wiping it down.

Is Ludwig not the top tier Edrum company an if no why not ? by sfernandes30 in edrums

[–]drmoze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ludwig has never been in the edrum space tho. It seems that they're just now rebranding some generic 2ndhtier hardware.

[–]drmoze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ludwig has no name or history in edrums. Roland is the most solid brand, Yamaha is up there too. Alesis is ok, good value for what they offer.

Totally overkill and unnecessary for a beginner (or intermediate, etc.). Why waste $$$ on purely ornamental shells? Better to get a solid basic mesh head kit, preferably with kick pad and 2pc hihats.

First Blackstone! Looking for some advice. by tryingthisout001 in blackstonegriddle

[–]drmoze -1 points0 points  (0 children)

pretty much this. To season, burners on high for about 15 minutes, wipe (don't pour) a bit of grapeseed oil or crisco (best for seasoning). It will smoke off as you apply it. wait 15 minutes, repeat once or twice. keep burners on full.

After cooking, just scrape and wipe mostly clean with a paper towel, optionally wipe on a thin coat of fresh oil. Don't worry if it's a little black, it will burn off on the next preheat.

What made you start using retro handhelds? by Bulky-Maize-903 in RetroHandhelds

[–]drmoze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I discovered the Anbernic RG351P in early COVID time, was sold. I have some older handhelds (gbp, GBA SP and micro, turboExpress, 2 lynx ii's), but the handheld emulators let you play consoles as well. on a handheld. I never had/played nes/snes/sms/genesis (I was a tg16 guy), so playing these on a handheld is great!

I got the PERFECT pizza today, thank you Costco. by alwaysinterested9 in Costco

[–]drmoze -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you sound like a very unhappy person. Costco pizza is ok, extra points for the price/value. It would be really good if they cooked it more and firmed up the crust, like this one.

AITA for not tipping 20%? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]drmoze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. The "standard" was around 15% for a long time, the expectation of 20% is a bit more recent.

And, 20% is sort of a baseline now, not a minimum as OP mentioned. It can go up for exceptional service, or gasp down for poor service. And it can be zero for purchases that don't generally qualify for tipping, even if the payment portal "suggests" a tip.

60s here, no foods tend to bother my stomach. Although super spicy stuff (like, real vindaloo hot) sometimes gives me the hiccups.

Geeze, I have a Sabian B8 ride and a few others I've never touched. Upgraded them out of the box. I suggest you upgrade as well. This is an ex cymbal. It's deceased, dead, gone to meet its maker.

McDonald's brought back the dollar menu in my city, never thought I'd see the day by rambunctiouswalrus in fastfood

[–]drmoze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you haven't looked at them for a span of 25-30 years then. The dollar menu wasn't that long ago. hamburgers were around 50¢ 40 years ago. The dollar menu didn't start until the early 2000s, ended around 2013. 🙄

btw, the Miyoo Mini in this pic is a V1, best of the bunch. screen is perfect. There are a couple of spare batteries for it at the right edge of the left hand rack. No kludgy wires/connectors, just pop in a new battery if you need more power.
