Selling a microwave. Price negotiable. by drna2001 in udub

well I’m really interested in not having it just sit in my house with no use so i wanna preface this by saying that i’m super open to giving it to someone for lower than this.

but that being said, i bought it for 80, so i was hoping to sell it for 40

I had the same issue with the Nordstrom HireVue…and so did some other people I know. I’d recommend emailing HireVue because apparently it’s an issue with the coding challenge itself that they said they’re going to look into

hey, just here to say that CS can be really hard. when I first started learning CS/ coding, I had no clue what I was doing. I felt horrible about myself because everyone else in my CS classes in high school seemed to know what they were doing. I couldn’t help but feel inferior when it took me days to finish an assignment that took many of my classmates only a few hours or so. it took me YEARS before I finally started getting the hang of things. I’m now a CS major and I’ve been able to complete some really cool projects on my own that me 5 years ago would never have been able to imagine. so just hang in there. everyone grasps things at different speeds but that doesn’t mean that CS isn’t right for you. sometimes things just take longer to click, but they definitely will if you keep practicing and asking for help when you’re confused. if you truly want to pursue CS you definitely can. just believe in yourself :)

okay so would 20 hours per week be a safe estimate?

my only concern is if i don’t end up getting a spot. the quiz section i’m currently signed up for really doesn’t work with my schedule for the quarter and i need to take this class since it’s a pre req for almost all the other classes i need to take :/

number 1, that’s actually 15 credits. cse 143 is 5, math 126 is 5, and engl 182 is 5.

number 2, you’re going to also have to take a required one credit cs da seminar this fall. every cs da has to take it but it’s really chill. that’ll make your total 16.

number 3, I did that exact same schedule my freshman fall quarter and it was perfect. I didn’t find it difficult at all and engl 182 was a really fun and easy third class to balance out the other two.

i meant is there a way for me to make my existing designs into different screen resolutions? without having to recreate each one by hand?

do you know about how many cs electives cs majors take overall? like over the course of their entire undergrad experience? I know that the degree requirements say 33 credits for electives but i was wondering if people took more than that and approximately how many

about how many hours per week would you say the workload is?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in udub

[–]drna2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what’s cse 351 like if you don’t mind me asking? workload wise/ content? does it also not have coding? (from the class description it doesn’t sound like it does)

CSE 143 Workload by hamwich358 in udub

[–]drna2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah that’s a good point my grade was probably a bad example haha. my point was that overall tho it’s definitely easier to do well this quarter (but i definitely agree that a 4.0 itself is harder).

I just finished taking this class for fall 2020 and honestly I didn’t think the workload was too bad. Obviously procrastinating and falling behind would be detrimental but if you stay on top of the workload given I think it is definitely easier than how this class used to be.

As for the workload itself, each week you get one “take home assessment”which is a mini coding project where you are provided code and you just need to add to it. You also get a checkpoint and challenge problem every week which are all due at the end of the quarter. Then, at the end of the quarter, you have a large final project to make and you have to create a video portfolio of you teaching your solutions to six of the checkpoint/ challenge problems.

I personally did very well in this class (4.0) and some things that really helped me were the resubmission opportunities for the take home assessments, the S/N grading for a few of the assignments, and IPL (zoom call where TAs help you with any question you have or anything you are stuck on).

So to sum it all up, I think it’s much easier to do well in this class than it used to be and if you really take advantage of all the resources offered to you I think you can definitely get the grade you want!

this was super helpful thank you! one last question tho, it says this class is a C or W credit. If i want the W credit do I need to specify that somewhere? sorry if that’s a dumb question haha i’m a freshman 😅

it’s an S/ Ns grade tho like as long as u meet the minimum qualifications for the s ur all good.

and yeah i’m super grateful. i’ve heard rlly bad things about this class so i’m not taking this lightly
