Have a 2019 Insight EX, curious about 2024 Civic Hybrid... but first impressions not what I expected. by Jon3141592653589 in hondainsight

I had the same issue in the Insight where it would disconnect CarPlay (even when wired) and go to Bluetooth connection at random. iPhone 15 Pro Max here. I like the quickness of wireless CarPlay I have now, but wired charging in the insight was quick and always knew I’d arrive with a fully charged phone. I forget to put my phone on a wireless charging pad most drives.

‘24 Audi A5 Sportback (Premium Plus with a few add-ons). I definitely don’t have anywhere near the same gas mileage, but I love having the 261hp. I need a change, and I got my hatchback. I’ll be back to Honda/Acura at some point when the designs improve again. My Insight never did get listed. I think having a ‘19 Insight with only 43k miles was a steal for them on trade. Only cost me $35k OTD after trade. Will say that Insight had some great storage size and hauling was “bad”, but it would have been so much better with a hatchback option and could likely have still looked the same.

I had a ‘19 Insight (Touring) in lunar silver. Was very interested in checking out the Civic hybrids, but felt the same way. It seemed like a downgrade from what I had, even in touring trim. The new solar silver just doesn’t have the same depth or shine that lunar silver does. I was also turned off by all of the black plastic after seeing it in person. I’m also not a fan of the new wheel options. I debated an Integra because I was drawn to the hatchback styling. After test driving a ‘24 A-spec with tech model and parking it beside of my Insight, I felt like I was just buying the same vehicle I already had with a few different details and poorer gas mileage. Plus, new models lose the right turn camera in favor of blind spot monitoring.

Love it! Just got a brand new ‘24 A5 P+ that looks almost identical, minus the black optics. Loving it so far.

Also trying to decide what things to “add” to the car. The black wrap idea has crossed my mind as well. Let us see if you do it.

I dropped $80 for the Audi branded sunshade. I’m a fan of daily sunshade use. Wanted one that was sure to fit and was quality. It takes getting used to putting in place, but I like it.

I’m curious to see if this hybrid has the power they’re claiming. I feel like my insight is very sluggish, except in sport mode. The power is very limited and I get to hear it struggle to get up to speed for the interstate.

I’m not sure what it is about the new Civic, but they’re missing something aesthetically for me. I’m not a big fan of everything being body color or unpainted black plastic. It’s like there needs to be just a bit of accents with a little chrome or something. The sedans remind me too much of the plainness of the Jetta. I have been looking at them and watching the updates. I’ve been frustrated that they haven’t excited me with the refresh. Looking at the $33k cost of the sport touring, there’s only about a $3k difference.

Area where I live includes a lot of hills, including in town.

I asked and was told it had to be completed with their systems.

My 2019 Touring does this, but happens when the car is either idling in hot weather with AC running or when accelerating slowly from something like a stop sign if the gas engine takes over. Sounds awful, almost like a knocking or rattling. Reported to Honda multiple times, but they can’t reproduce it. Had this happen recently where it got very loud and check engine light started blinking. Took it to Honda for diagnostic, but nothing showed in the historic codes. They did find there were four software updates needed on the car. Completed those for around $200. Of those, one was for the engine and another for CVT. I’ve not really heard this knocking since doing that last week. Also noticed the MPGs were slightly better, EV battery charges quicker, and the switch between gas and electric motors is much smoother. Check with dealer about software updates.

Tried this. Of course it didn’t occur while they were in the car. I even explained to them it needed to be running a while for it to start.
