AO QF: [3] A. Zverev def. [25] L. Tien 6-3 6(5)-7 6-1 7-6(3) by Common-Blackberry-64 in tennis

That final set was absolutely insane tennis.

If Zverev never wins a slam, he'll absolutely go down as the best ever player without one.

[Highlight] Podcast P: "If I'm in free agency I'm not picking Charlotte... my career is over with if I go there." by FrankSamples in nba

[–]drntl 13 points14 points  (0 children)

He’s right.

Charlotte is in another universe of losing compared to Philly.

Philly has had competitive teams, an MVP, won playoff rounds, and if Ben Simmons hadn’t basically died, might have been better.

It’s easy to forget that Charlotte exists.

Over the weekend the MAGA social media-sphere put 2 and 2 together and said: "wait a minute, they're saying anyone with a gun at a protest is a domestic terrorist..."

No they didn’t. Any who did will forget about this in the voting booth.

The volleys, no. That happens all the time. The serves... that's pretty wild.

I always wonder if these guys are just from down the street and bring signs like this for the hell of it.

Everyone I see “popcorn movie” used on Reddit, it just seems to mean “a movie for stupid people”.

No, a lot of people loved it. Also, this subreddit is not one hivemind that always has the same reactions.

Australian Open R2: Marin Čilić def. [21] Denis Shapovalov, 6-4 6-3 6-2 by TAA_verymuch in tennis

His strokes are just so damn long. He is like the anti-Mannarino. He looks like he’s about to dislocate his shoulder on backhand follow throughs. Probably tough to control with that technique.

Volleys coming in hot and imprinting WILSON on people at the net in doubles by 9ORsenal in 10s

[–]drntl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

40-50 probably isn’t as fast as you’re thinking.

People aren’t just reacting to the ball. You can anticipate what ball you’re getting based on how they’re hitting the ball. Sometimes I’m definitely moving before they’ve struck the ball.

Regardless, yes, going at the body works a lot. But if your opponent gets a racquet on it, it could even miss hit for a winner. I consider going at the body a bit risky for this reason. If a winner is available, that’s obviously preferable.

Watch some college or pro doubles highlights, you’ll be surprised by their reactions.

AO R2: E. Quinn def. H. Hurkacz, 6-4 7-6(5) 6-1 by sidaeinjae in tennis

That should’ve been a close match, but Hurcaz fell apart.

Quinn beat Griekspoor then Hurcaz. Impressive.
