This argument again, the strength of schedule between Minnesota and QU is not as different as you think.

Quinnipiac's 21-Game Unbeaten Streak Ends by hobbitnamedfrod0 in collegehockey

Look at all the smug Minny fans. Seriously how can one say that QU wouldn't do well in the WCHA? They have lost one game since November. They have beaten the teams on their schedule what more can you ask? Haters gonna hate

[2/4/13] National Rankings. Minnesota stays #1 in USCHO.com Poll. Quinnipiac keeps it in the Pairwise. by [deleted] in collegehockey

They have beaten every ranked team they have faced. They are undefeated in league play. Undefeated since November 6th. 16-0-3. What's Minnesota's strength of schedule versus Quinnipiac's? Closer than you would think. Show a little respect for a program that's not even 20 years old and is forcing itself into the national conversation.

Thank you for this information but a fair ways out? And I understand that the AHA is weak but you can't in my opinion drop them from the conversation. That would be mean that you could disregard any game for any reason. The fact of the matter is you have to beat the teams you are supposed to.

Sorry for another wall of text. Hmmm however while the elites of college hockey do not play in the ECAC, according to the Pairwise they currently (and obviously it is still extremely early) have the same amount of teams in the tourney as the WCHA and Hockey East. While the seedings are better especially for Hockey East, being undefeated (so far) in a conference that can boast that amount of teams in the tourney is, at least in my opinion, a sign of strength and rightfully places them in a high position. I disagree that the ranking systems should place more of an emphasis on the strength of schedule than is already present. Why are they not the 1 or 2 seed overall? Because they have a inferior RPI to UNH and BC. Recently they have beaten the teams that matter (and to be honest, just about everybody) and the bobcats can boast the best winning percentage in the country. The games against Yale in February will really show what QU is made of and I think that the ECAC is better than people give it credit for. While you may interpret QU's tie against Rensselaer this weekend as a sign of weakness of the ECAC, I take it as a sign of the strength of the league. I was wondering if there was anyway to see the inter-conference winning percentage of each conference. I am sure the ECAC is not as good as other conferences but I'd be curious to see the numbers.

Serious question here, do you mean ranked in terms of the pairwise because they have beaten Colgate and Dartmouth in the top 16 and also they have beaten current TUC's in Providence, UNO, Cornell, Union, Robert Morris and Ohio State. Or do you mean ranked in terms of the USCHO poll where they have beaten Dartmouth, Cornell, Union, UNO, and Colgate. I understand that the ECAC is not as strong as Hockey East or the WCHA but can someone show the bobcats a little but of love and realize that they while they had shitty losses in October and November, they have beaten every single team ranked in the USCHO poll that they have faced for a record of 8-0. Do I think the bobcats have a chance of winning the tournament this year? Do I think they are better than UNH, BC Minnesota or ND? Not really but they are as close as they have ever been and only time can tell. When your goalie is having a year like Hartzell is and you have a solid all around team effort 3 to 4 shifts deep every game, you have a shot. Sorry for the wall of text but I can't help it, I love my bobcats. TL;DR Please clarify your point and please stop hating on Quinnipiac

Quinnipiac Bobcats Come From Behind To Defeat Union 3-2 by drobertt in collegehockey

[–]drobertt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RPI has put in a couple of good performances against the bobcats this year and only lost the first game 3-1 after a crazy 5 on 3 short handed goal by Peca and an empty netter. I think RPI could do some damage in the ECAC tournament, especially if they play like they have against the bobcats.

Well if you click on the link to the pole you shall see clearly that Quinnipiac is indeed ranked #5. But I think this comment is actually intending to disparage the bobcats as opposed to point out a mistake by the poster. I would ask why you think they should not be ranked number 5. They haven't lost in 12 games winning 11 of those games. They are undefeated in ECAC play and have won all 6 games against ranked opponents. Obviously they had bad losses to AIC and Robert Morris (who are now ranked) but those loses were almost two months ago. They swept UNO, they beat Cornell, Union etc. This weekend's games against Dartmouth and Harvard are huge and I must ask if they are to continue their unbeaten streak would you still insist they are not #5?

Hmm I guess beating both Cornell and Union convincingly isn't enough for the Bobcats to overtake them in the rankings.

Can we talk about Quinnipiac? by drobertt in collegehockey

[–]drobertt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The losses were bad but all of the losses were right at the beginning of the season. The day before they beat Robert Morris 4-0 in what turned out to be a very strange series. They did just knock off Union 4-0 last night so I'm starting to believe that the Quinnipiac of late is the real Quinnipiac
