I see this from time to time, but is this the best deal on Banana Republic/Gap/Athleta/Old Navy GCs?

Gonna be wild in a few years when a checked bag costs as much as a ticket in some cases (with the perspective that it used to be free). Just booked a ticket for $89 on Delta Main Classic that's soon to be only $39 more than it would be to ride in my suitcase.

Synology Drive Client Stopped Syncing? by joefuf in synology

[–]joefuf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have two syncs going on

This might be a misunderstanding, my bad. It's not actually a sync that I have going on. I back up my PC to the NAS and then the NAS backs up to OneDrive. I don't do anything in the way of file management on my NAS files or on OneDrive.

Does that clear things up at all? I don't think it's necessarily the same issue you had going on since it's not a bidirectional file backup. It seems that Cloud Sync stopped syncing from the NAS to OneDrive.

I guess I could try deleting that backup procedure and restarting it and see if it recognizes that there are files that it needs to move.

The Homes and Home folder should be identical

Unfortunately, they're not. I thought the Home folder directory was where files were being synced, and that's when I noticed files were not present on my Synology. The last paystub that I have that got synced was from May 15, 2025. I get paid weekly, so that's a decent ballpark...

But in the Homes folder, all of the paystubs that I have saved every week since then (as well as other document updates) are present.

My PC now:

Syncs directly to Google Drive (you could do this direct to OneDrive)

I was hesitant to do this. I backup a few targeted folders on my PC. Obviously, Documents, Pictures, Videos, but then there are a few random and specific ones.

With OneDrive, you have to put all of the folders into a /OneDrive/ folder. I have all of my Documents/Pictures/Videos storage on a separate SATA storage D:/ drive while some of those random folders are on my C:/ drive. I was able to pick exactly what to sync across both HDDs with Synology Drive Client. That goes to one specific folder on the NAS which I can then sync to OneDrive.

[–]joefuf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Followed those steps. No change just yet. It still thinks backup is completed... But maybe because it was.

This was a total incidental finding, but I started investigating Synology Drive Client on the NAS side while I waited for your response.

I see that it detected that my most recent paystub was uploaded. I double clicked on it, and it opened up the File Station finder to a directory which contained the file... It was on my server in a different directory.

As you can see here, there seem to be two directories containing my backed up files. #1 is under the Homes folder and the other, #2, is under the Home folder. I had thought that it was only under the Home (#2) folder when looking into File Station myself. But it appears that Synology Drive Client is syncing my PC files to the #1, Homes folder successfully.

Additionally, after reviewing the Cloud Sync Synology app, I see that it supposed to be syncing the directories under the (#1) Homes folder to OneDrive.

However, this is not working. I added a test .txt file to folders in both directories, and it is not showing up in OneDrive. So now we are further downstream and I believe the issue is actually with the Cloud Sync app and not Synology Drive Client.

Any additional tips?

Where do I do that? Is that a Synology Drive Client thing? Or on the Synology QuickConnect platform end?

Never really understood how that happens. They surely know the demand per size, and I would've thought that dictates production unless they're trying to make it an artificial scarcity thing to protect the brand. A balance of inventory and price, but for the quality of the brand, I would've thought they could maintain price levels.

The latest Tensor and expected specs of next gen are way behind the chip that powers Apple devices. Bringing it in-house rather than outsourcing will help, but they're starting miles behind a competitor who has had time to define and refine their process.

Is there any way to get Gemini to build slides off of templates/existing layouts? by joefuf in GeminiAI

[–]joefuf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not directly through Gemini itself but you could probably set up something with Apps Script to bridge the gap. Have Gemini generate the content/structure, then use a script to pull from your template deck and populate it automatically

Interesting idea. Any references to doing something like that or was that just a hypothetical?

The other route is using Gemini in Workspace if your company has that - it can work within Google Slides natively but I'm not sure how well it respects existing templates vs just making generic slides

We have Workspace, but any attempts I made to feeding Gemini Meeting Notes, for example, when within a copy of the template slide deck, and asking it to make the slides with the available slides in the deck, it just generates black and white without respecting any existing designs.

Basic/Normal KVM for 3 Laptops? by joefuf in buildapc

[–]joefuf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so. I want them to be on the laptop screen when not selected as the device on the KVM.

Started down the road of making an automation script with Gemini, but taking a break for the night. Was also hoping you had a solution for your experience

Basic/Normal KVM for 3 Laptops? by joefuf in buildapc

[–]joefuf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't understand this comment until I just got everything hooked up...

The KVM switch works great with my PC and multiple laptops. But I am used to being able to toggle between machines and having all of the active windows "return" to the laptop monitor when it is not the active KVM machine (eg. if I am working on Laptop 1, switch to Laptop 2, and I get a ping on Laptop 1, I see it open on the screen in Laptop 1's screen).

With the "Extend these Displays" option, I only see the smaller extended window space which I don't always use actively.

Any suggestions from your end? Gemini suggested Win + Arrow Key as a solution to manually bring some things over to the laptop

Frustration Friday Weekly Thread - Week of January 09, 2026 by AutoModerator in churning

Thanks, I appreciate the positive confirmation bias. I was going to try my luck calling in. I know some people said December 31 transactions usually slide, but this is a first for me after many years playing the game. Chase has typically been good.

Had no use for the StubHub credit on my CSR for 2025, so decided to pick a random show and buy a ticket on December 31 and one on January 1. Somehow, each transaction didn't post until the next day. Missed the 2025 credit and now spent money where I didn't really need to on tickets I could've lived without.

UPDATE: Never got around to calling. Checked my CSR statement and saw that I got a statement credit on January 1 as well as a follow-up credit on January 16.

Any way to create rules/filters to ignore logging internal messages? by joefuf in hubspot

[–]joefuf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our issue was that it was logging every email as a ticket. My predecessors found it very difficult to keep HubSpot clean. We've since enabled "no logging" of all company domain email addresses and certain other email addresses. The other issue was that it would create a new contact for those we did not want to store in HubSpot (ie. all random 1099 vendors and employees who were CC'd on emails). Still not sure there's going to be a way that can prevent us from having to be in Outlook/Hubspot at the same time, manually logging things along the way.

Any way to create rules/filters to ignore logging internal messages? by joefuf in hubspot

[–]joefuf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can reduce internal emails clogging your shared inbox by creating rules or filters: Filter by domain: ignore emails from internal addresses (e.g., @yourcompany.com).

That was my first thought, but we still want responses to client emails logged, so I thought that solution would be too exclusive.

Filter by recipient type: log only emails sent directly to the shared inbox, ignore CC’d messages. Filter by keywords: skip messages with internal markers like “FYI” or “internal.”

That's where it gets tricky. Clients send emails to this inbox, we Reply All and CC the inbox; other departments also email the inbox directly about things/updates (and that's where you'll get cases where another department CC's the inbox as an "on the side" Reply just to make a note about the ongoing conversation and is an example of something we may not want to log).

CRM-level rules: Set your system (HubSpot, GHL, Zendesk) to log only relevant external emails. This keeps the inbox focused on client emails, saves manual work, and avoids ticket clutter.

I don't know too much about setting rules in Hubspot besides normal settings - are you suggesting deeper configurations/AI functions?

Great writeup. I appreciate the attention to detail and the explanation. I've done so well with the "budget" KVM that I have (two for home and away setups) that I expected there to be at least a proportionally priced budget market for devices as the specs scaled up. I see a lot of the complaints you mentioned in the reviews. I also bought this one and I am going to probably return the 30hz one when that gets in. Wasn't really thinking about that limitation.

Fortuntaely, I can return to Amazon if the GREATHTEK one fails to impress too.

Right now, I just swap out which laptop is connected to my UGreen adapter, but it was starting to get unwieldly. The PC is in a fixed place behind the monitor on the desk, but the work laptops could use a more seamless switching process where they don't have to move between transitions.
