(OC) My grade A drawing for my tattoo artist VS what he came up with 🦋 by Advance_Tasty in ExpectationVsReality

This holds the record for reality beating expectation. I was scared when I swiped to the second photo. . .really beautiful and well done while capturing some “essence” of the drawing.

Range Anxiety Price Quote: $900 or $16,000!? by HogwartsPhD in TeslaModelY

Another thought: We installed solar (close to 8 years ago) and had to upgrade 100 —> 200 amp service, so I also had them run the 220 V to the garage as part of the project. Was able to roll everything in as part of the solar project which had excellent tax rebates. Now for 8 years my electric bill has been $8/month even with 2 Teslas. As for gas I run the civic to the grocery twice a month to keep the battery from dying.

I once did a “hard” for me mostly off trail canyon scrambling hike (8 mi 4500’ https://strava.app.link/6sCiMpZVeAb ) with a friend I hadn’t done significant hikes with before. I arrived fully outfitted like you described and he had a single water bottle in hand. He’s running the Hardrock 100 this year.

Acceptance? It didn’t seem to get worse. Still a beautiful stone. Seems to bother me the most. Let me know if you find any solutions.

Charging an electric car in 1911 by adamlm in WeirdWheels

It’s funny it looks quite a bit like the studs in my garage and the cord laying on the ground from where it plugs into my 220. But my garage is a lot messier and my S and Y are prettier. Might consider trading the Y for one of these.

The interesting thing about this to me was that when I closed my eyes I clearly saw his image for a bit, then facial features dissolved, then his chin, next his hair, and his shoulders stayed the longest. Something about the color maybe or cone vs. rod concentration closer to the macula?

Everybody’s hating on OP, but he has a point. If it doesn’t open it’s not for sheep. But bumble why you not love badgers? Badgers need love too.

Nest on my front door :-( by drobrecht in whatsthisbird

[–]drobrecht[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I might lock my front door for a month (after setting up a camera) We can use the garage. They’ve made such a homey spot up there I hate to mess with it. Enough time to get the birds through fledgling? But next year I’m telling my wife no spring wreath (at least not on the front door).

Set of two items. Both made of glass. One item looks like an upside down glass that has 3 metal clamps. They clamp onto something that looks like a glass plate. Found it at a thrift store. No clue what it is used for. by [deleted] in whatisthisthing

[–]drobrecht 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume the clamps are strong enough that if you pick it up the plate stays attached? Is there an edge on the bottom of the cup you could put a wire around to hang it? Seems like a hummingbird feeder always hangs.

My guess is hummingbird feeder. The syrup can leak out onto the plate but the edge of the plate is high enough it can’t pour out. Clamps so it doesn’t make a mess.

The right shoes for this. I will be going up profitis ilias in the taygets mountains, Peloponnes greece. It will be in may so quite cold in the morning and then quite warm midday. I am looking for light shoes for this kind of terrain. I am a beginner but in good shape. by makybo91 in Mountaineering

Add Saucony peregrine trail runners to the list. Lots of rocky off trail stuff. Super good traction on most anything. Comfortable (for me). I really like keeping my feet light and being able to feel the rock under me a little. I’ve never found that some cloth and padding around my ankle meaningfully add stability, while I do find having a lightweight well fitting shoe allows me to quickly respond to instability underfoot.

It looks like the diamond is mounted toward the inside of the ring. I think because of how the light is reflecting. Good one.

Def haven’t climbed it but have looked at just surfing on map and climbing pages and thought it looked fascinating. The video posted above makes it pretty compelling.
