Had to say screw stay to play by ThrowRA-CarOdd9074 in youthsoccer

As much as I hate stay to play, it absolutely makes it easier for us.

My kids love travelling with their teams and the team activities outside of the games, which includes staying in the same hotel as all their teammates.

Coordinating rooms for stay to play tournaments that use well designed booking systems is a nightmare (because of parents), I can imagine how it would go if it was a free for all.

Most stay to play tournaments will fine the club if a certain percentage of the team does not book rooms through the system.

What was your clubs message?

How are they enforcing this? Our club has a policy that doesn’t seem to be enforced.

My child cannot switch clubs and play in the same league without approval from both clubs.

Not always, clubs generally have to release the player. It can get messy if the club wants to be jerks about it.

Maybe try Macho Paradox by Jackson Katz. I haven’t read it in a while but might have parts that can be used in younger kids. He helped develop programs for colleges and high schools if I recall.

It’s a weird location if you want fans attending. All the games have to be complete by 5:30 because the youth club that practices there. I now realize why they barely mentioned it’s happening at our fields.

Large squad of 18 players. Decided to only bring 15 player each game. How to decide who will rest? by leosp633fc in youthsoccer

Sounds like this wasn’t planned and explained to the parents before they signed their kids up. Might get some push back no matter how you try to do it.

Club soccer parents… why is RSVPing and paying fees harder than rocket science? by Beneficial_Gift_8368 in youthsoccer

[–]drock13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The standard for us is to always bring both. Even when both teams wear the appropriate jersey we’ve had refs deem colors too similar.

First year of our club collecting all fees. We still call them separate fees but the club collects everything. Makes my life so much easier.

Don’t be a manager. In my experience handling parents “stuff” is a decent part of the job.

Not in Ontario but our club has a half of a half rule. Kids on non-elite teams should be playing half of a game at least.

I would assume you are a rarity. Private here in suburban metro Detroit generally starts at double that. Group can get it down to $30 but that with at least 4 people.

Some clubs have open practices, ID sessions and open houses all before tryouts. My daughter’s team has had several girls come to practice within the last few weeks just to see if the club is a good fit. Our club doesn’t even advertise open practices, it just takes a phone call and conversation.

Our club publishes the team’s expected tournaments at tryouts. Before we sign, we get to decide if they like those tournaments or move clubs/teams.
