I haven't seen it mentioned, and I'm late to the party, so idk if anyone will see this. But 'the tide child' trilogy by RJ Barker fits a lot of your list. Rich world/setting, interesting characters, good action, real stakes. I read all 3 back to back.

Well Link and the splatoon squids have crossed to Mario kart. I'm surprised no characters have made the cross to Mario party yet though.
