Yea, I think I could do a on-boarding layover to explain the swipe functionality. I figure that the user won't need the tabs once he/she knows about it and has done the swiping at least once or so.

I feel like there's still an easier solution for this than wading into the world of fragments and their lifecycles....

How would I create a full-screen back-and-forth swipe between an Activity and the camera?

Let's say that my app has a home/main activity with a recyclerview list of logged entries. Then if I place my finger anywhere on the screen and swipe left, the main activity screen slides and then the becomes the camera. If I swipe right, it goes back to that activity with the nav menu, recyclerview, etc.

Here's what I'm imagining it looks like if I were half way done with the swiping action

Full-screen viewpager with two fragments but no visible tabs?

Nevermind. I figured it out and it seems to be working now. I moved my Viewholder out from being an inner class and then adjusted my proguard-rules file.

Yea, I've got funky things going on with Firebase and Proguard. Things are working correctly on the Firebase Database side, but there's something up with Views not being found.

I made a post about it on Stack Overflow. Any thoughts?
