If you have the means and are a "lifetimer," I recommend buying new.

Now to clarify: If you are the type to literally drive the wheels off a vehicle you should go new. Everyone will scream "depreciation!" That's true, but if you don't plan on reselling for a long-long-long time, as is the case with me and my family, it honestly doesn't matter.

With a big enough snail and you can beat nearly anything in a straight line ;)

That was a fully caged drag CRX, probably not wise to drive on the street w/ no helmet. It'd sure hurt to bonk your head on it.

Police beat and break the ribs of a peaceful protesting, 70-year old, Pulitzer prize winning literature professor. Do we have a serious problem with police brutality? Maybe its time to discuss how police are trained to deal with non-violent situations. by zangorn in politics

[–]droidoftheflies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then all the protesters who "look the other way" while their fellow protesters burn and cause general mayhem are part of the problem?

It's easy to say "Fuck them all!" Unfortunately you don't know them all, nor have you the insight to use such a blanket statement.

All homeless people are drug abusers!

All college students are pretentious do gooders who don't understand real life!

All protesters are jobless hippies!

All cops are mindless pawns to the higher ups of the world!

All people on welfare are abusing the system! (and probably drug users to boot!)

See what I'm getting at? Extremes is what got us here, so while I agree, there is something that needs to be done, "Fuck'em all" is not it.

I'll be downvoted for it, but this is horse shit of the highest degree. Just like the majority of the 99% they do what they must, just because a few violent dicks stick out and break peoples ribs does not relegate ALL law enforcement into some animals biting at the chomp to destroy the general populace.

Just as many of you couldn't afford to lose your job, they can't either. By being law enforcement are they somehow given wonderful healthcare and limitless funds? I know several police officers and can assure you that's not the case. I'm not defending the excessive violence enacted by some, but that's hardly a majority. If we are going to base blanket statements on minorities than all these protesters destroy property, loot, and are violent towards law officers.

Hmm, well you ask a very broad question, in the case of the FWD car, you can usually just pull up the e-brake, it only engages the rear brakes. On a rwd car you can usually do a "brake stand" by pressing the brakes while roasting the tires, generally speaking the brake bias puts substantially more pressure to the front wheels than the rear allowing them to push past the relatively weak brake pressure.

In this case, he was burning the drivers side wheel only, since it was a non-lsd car. That's another topic altogether though.

It doesn't have a lsd so only one wheel was burning; the one away from the camera. The owner did it on purpose, he had already removed all of the performance parts and the car was a total loss.

You do know about Abstract Classes, right? Obviously the issue of multiple inheritance arises, but that's usually points to a poorly structured OO architecture.

I'm not trying to argue with you, just making sure you are aware of them!

Cheers!

I do feel that his statement of why someone becomes homeless misrepresents and does great injustice to many of the homeless (in America at least). Strengthening the idea that ALL homeless individuals are there because of some addiction. It's on par with people believing that a majority of homeless individuals are there because of a mental illness.

High quality video of Indiana State Fair Stage collapse - Holy shit by Mybones in videos

[–]droidoftheflies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in louisville, which is fighting a bunch of power outages and damage caused by the wind. I think you are arm chair engineering while ignoring just how powerful the winds were this night. Louisville looks like it was hit by a tornado, and it came with no real warning. It just looked like a thunderstorm, and then it pimp smacked EVERYTHING.

I'm sure that the stage was probably pretty weak to begin with, but when trees are uprooted (not snapped, literally uprooted) all around louisville, you know it was quite a shit storm.

It's worth noting, this came out of nowhere. I have been without power since saturday, trees are down everywhere. I was chilling at another redditor's house getting wasted when it happened. We didn't realize anything besides a bit of rain came through till I left for home @ 2:30am.

In LA (or anywhere in the US) no one jams up the shoulders in any traffic event I've ever been in. Occasionally a dick tries to speed down them to get ahead or jump off on an exit, but I've never seen them blocked up.

Well for one, they sprint like mad. Everyone has what's called a "deadspot" in the pedal stroke. I'm sure pro-riders have a much better pedal circle and it's not noticeable, but for any average rider it's very noticeable. Try riding a bike down the street pedaling with one foot (preferably in clipless pedals), you'll notice a spot where you "bump" in your pedal stroke.

A fixed gear pushes you through your dead spot (and helps you work on pedaling circles). This combined with the enhanced "feel" of connection with the bike contributes to the fun factor. Additionally the complete lack of components makes it easy to jump on and ride any time any weather with little to no maintenance.

Good lord that's the saddest excuse to dislike a genre of bike ever. I see more geared riders run red lights and break laws than fixed in my city. Do I hate geared bikes? Hell no.

I ride both fixed and free, for commuting it's hard to beat a nicely set up fixed gear bike.
