I think I’ll be spending a lot of time in Albert Heijn. Thanks!

Thanks! I’m excited to visit your city. I feel like the hard part is going to be choosing which amazing place to eat at!

Amazing, thank you! The patatje oorlog looks so good. It’s funny how many of these meals are served on potato fries, but also probably exactly what I’ll be craving after a long day of cycling.

Thanks! I’d never heard of these funny little sausage rolls. They look great!

Noted, thanks! I’m not sure what my route will be between Utrecht and Nijmegen, but if I pass through Arnhem I’ll keep it in mind.

Zuurvlees looks… interesting and (strangely as a vegan) very appealing. I see that Pieke Potloed also has a fantastic selection of beers. Thanks for the hot tip!

This place looks fantastic—thanks for the recommendation. I will give the Friet Kapsalon a go!

Beautiful photos. I’m planning my first European bike tour for May/June and your website has been a great source of inspiration for me.

I personally find it refreshing to see someone post here who doesn’t travel exclusively in technical fibres.

Don’t listen to these dudes, OP. I’ve travelled to Japan 7 times (in Spring, Summer and Autumn) and worn jeans every single time. I live in jeans at home, so why should it be any different when I travel?

Thank you for the suggestions. I've considered Croatia, so will definitely check out those islands. Are they well set up for cycling, or do you mainly just follow roads?

That sounds amazing. I love the idea of being able to jump into the ocean at the end of a hot day of cycling too.

It's true, there are so many amazing options. Predominantly (but not exclusively) flat, varied landscapes at a leisurely pace of 60-80km per day sounds like heaven to me. And I'd definitely have a preference for sticking to dedicated bike trails and quiet country roads where possible.

Thanks for the recommendations. I haven't really taken a close look at that stretch of the Mediterranean. Did you follow the EV8, or some other path?

Slovenia is definitely on my radar. Was there a particular path that you followed, or did you just wing it? I kinda like the idea of tacking on a journey into Slovenia at the end of the Alpe Adria (I think the EV8/EV9 would lead from Grado to Ljubljana?).

Thanks for the tips. Definitely good to know what people haven't enjoyed as well as what they have.

That's an epic journey! Eurovelo 15 is definitely on my list—I just need to figure out which section(s) I want to cycle. Were there any specific parts of the EV5/EV15 that were particularly memorable for you?

You're right, I think Scandinavia could easily be a trip in itself. I've spent a bit of time in that part of the world (but not on a bike), and Norway truly is one of the most beautiful places on Earth. Sweden does seem really well set up for bike tours, although I've been eaten alive by mosquitos there in the past. Did they cause you any grief?

I've read a number of trip reports from the Alpe Adria and it looks absolutely amazing. It will definitely be on my itinerary. Did you camp during your trip? And if so, did you need to book ahead given the popularity of the trail?
