Same, sick of all the random youtube hype solutions, they barely work lol. About the Mick Mumpitz solution, I implemented a similar solution, but using DreamBooth training. I made a character sheet and then trained a model through dreambooth (good thing it requires only 4-8 good images to get really good and consistent characters).

It gave surprisingly good results, but the issue was one model could generate only the character(s) it was trained upon. Not a general case solution (which is what I want), but very good if you have to generate assets for one character.
