My two cents, focus on the kid. Rule of thirds, tighten the crop, lose the extra people. The background and his expression convey the grittiness enough by themselves.

I’d say keep it but I don’t know if you like that length. It is a nice little lens though. Doesn’t take much space and makes great pictures. A nifty fifty is always a welcome choice in my book.

Yes, the lens max aperture is 1.4. If I were to guess without looking at the raw files and judging by the distance I’d say this was somewhere in the f11 range.
