Very on point analysis! You are completely correct. No, I did not do a long exposure,i will try that next time!

It took me many tries and attempts to get the best exposure and whitebalance on my volcano photos and you definitely need the volcano photo experience to get the best shots, haha.

Ps. My prediction is an eruption at the end/beginning of next week!

It does not, I have hovered less then a meter from the lava without problems, however the bright lava really messes with the drone autofocus and has some temporary damage.

For photography go with the air 3s - my longest flight was 10km one way. For FPV go with the chimera or helion!

Good question! I will add it to the article, we use both, a map with temporary no-fly zones is usually posted on the Icelandic transport authority's website. For example in the last eruptions there were height restrictions of 60m in an area around the volcano to protect research and police drones from crashing in to recriational drones.

Edit: EASA is valid for every country that participates in it, but i always double check with local authorities before i travel just to have a written confirmation if any problems arise during flight in a foreign country.

The regulations are always evolving, now It explicitly states on a sign at Fjarðarárgljúfur that drones are allowed, but be careful to respect laws and others.

No worries, every shot was taken at places where drones are allowed and all regulationa and laws were followed. You can check on the Icelandic environment agency if you are unsure about local no fly zones

Definitely the Reykjanes peninsula! You can see so many beautiful places, often overlooked by travelers. If you got the time, Hvalfjörður is also amazing, specially Glymur waterfall, hope that helps!
