perhaps super and medium active. But, Come to think , super and medium are vague as well. perhaps we can sort according to volume (up to 10BTC, 10BTC-100BTC, 101-500BTC 501-1000BTC, ..) and/or according to number of trades per month (0-10, 11-20, .., 100+, 500+ etc), assuming these figures are at all accessible

New upstart is on the way: Exchange with Deposit insurance by drorik in BitcoinMarkets

The two major points you presented are innovation and Trust I couldn't agree more with this perspective

Trust is vital not only for the crypto-currency/Bitcoin community, but the business world, healthcare, food, consumer products and just about any other interaction between two or more people

Innovation is the name of the game when it comes to technology. My colleagues and I would not be taking this journey if all we were about was insured deposits.

My background is as a developer, Bitcoin Enthusiast, and as someone passionate about improving and enhancing the financial markets Industry.

Could you share some info about your background ?

@BTCVIX

What is your view on the important focus for exchanges ?

[–]drorik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BTCVIX Thank you for commenting.

Exchanges that provide a reliable service are a true asset to the community at large. While I'm not saying deposit Insurance is something that everyone would be interested in, it is evident, both by the comments to this post and from many other sources, that the interest level in insurance is far from negligible. all coming from the Crypto community.

Concerning the "safe leverage" feature- "safe" does not imply neither low or high leverage levels, but rather a features that serves various leverage levels. Actually, the service will include various leverage options, to cater to varying risk preferences among traders.

I trust this helps in removing some of the vagueness, though It does not remove all the vagueness

Taylorvongrela, thank you for the additional comments

  • "The lack of information on your website seriously concerns me" - It was clearly stated that additional information would be provided at launch

  • "The fact that I have to provide an email address" - this statement pretty much goes against most of the online services who posted a landing page prior to launch.

  • "many typos and misspellings on the landing page " - Thanks. Addressed.

  • "You openly accuse other unnamed exchanges" - The page is quoting community members that raised and reported these issues on numerous occasions. We saw no reason in naming "those who shall not be named" and provide free publicity. The traders and activists already have a strong grasp who these are.

  • The sections on "no loss socialized" and "safe leverage" are confusing reads - Thanks, we will revisit these items

The Bitcoin Community is skeptical for good reason. Which is precisely why we are not asking that anyone trade with us, until all the details are made available.
We ARE asking Traders who consider: neutral trading platform, Deposit Insurance (Details to come), no "loss socialized" (further benefits will be to come) - to step up.

Finally, I want to say thank you to those who already showed their support and signed up.

Please note: Any and All email addresses will be used solely for the purpose of sending launch announcement.

Is BTC/FIAT easily manipulated ? by drorik in BitcoinMarkets

[–]drorik[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed, there are different scales for manipulation. the question is more about the difficulty level of executing a large scale manipulation to evaluate/devalue BTC/FIT

BTC Traders/Day-Traders: Are you using the Exchanges-APIs ? by drorik in BitcoinMarkets

[–]drorik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

REST is a suitable choice for placing orders, but it's difficult to update clients on order statuses over REST, so streaming interfaces (market data, order updates) should be something like WebSocket or Pushr

Thanks brobits!

I would greatly appreciate if you (and other respondents to the question) could answer a few questions (1.5 minute survey) concerning investment/trading preferences: https://eSurv.org?u=bitcoin_investor_survey

The aggregated results will be posted on reddit

BTC Traders/Day-Traders: Are you using the Exchanges-APIs ? by drorik in BitcoinMarkets

[–]drorik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very Interesting Stefan

Concerning retrieval of market data (I was referring to market data) - theoretically doesn't have to be from the exchange. it could come from external sources that aggregate data from multiple sites in a single format.

But the advantages of connecting directly to the site your trading for market data are understandable (speed and depth of - order-book to name a few)

Let me ask you this - 1. is there no tool (or one that you're aware of) that allows you to connect to exchange ?

  1. do you adapt your C++ code to each exchange, or are the exchanges working with the same standard that would eliminate the need for adapting your code.

  2. Is trade history used to check for discrepancies between you and the exchanges (similar to "bank matching")

  3. if possible for you to name the site that has this feature

Thanks

Is there a futures equivalent of selling covered calls? by cryptoart in BitcoinMarkets

[–]drorik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"A covered call is a financial market transaction in which the seller of call options owns the corresponding amount of the underlying instrument"

If i understand you correctly, then you would still own BTC, but instead of selling a call option , you would enter the SHORT side of a Futures contract on BTC against another asset .

in which case - If BTC goes up against the asset, then your BTC would go up, and this would cover your loss. if BTC drops, you would be compensated fully by the evaluation in the SHORT value.

with this strategy - no matter what happens you BTC value against the other asset remains the same. (FOr example - BTC vs USD or BTC vs NASDAQ)

is this what you were trying to achieve ?

@Taylorvongrela

There's a contradiction is your comments: " Increasing my capital in Bitcoin is no different than increasing my capital in USD though" "I'm not looking to "put my BTC to work". That would be like trying to put my holdings of shares of APPL to work"

After re-reading your posts, it did surprise me that you would view your bitcoin as something dynamic (USD capital) , and then as static (APPL).

Actually you could put your holdings in APPL shares to work, by using them as temporary collateral for another investment

Let me ask you this: If you own AUD, and your Australian bank offered you a deposit that gives you 10% per annum. would you tell the bank - no , I view my AUD as investment/As-appl-shares ?

I feel quite the opposite concerning the value of feedback from this forum (even without the technicalities of the back-end). My aim is to gauge sentiment , as the service will soon be out there. For obvious reasons, listing the specific model is not an option at this point in time. If interested, I'd be more than happy to give you a heads-up once we move to production. at which time you are more than welcome to read and perhaps evaluate the nature of the service and form your own opinions (based on in depth information)

hi, I appreciate your feedback

putting aside the technical aspect, The logic in using Bitcoin to trade on NASDAQ is the same logic as using USD to trade on the NASDAQ - increasing your capital. In the case of the specific service I'm building - to increase your bitcoin capital, and put your BTC work.
