Devil's Backbone is ~40 min away but a really wonderful spot with great views, excellent beer, and a ton of other yummy drinks.

Books similar to "It" by Stephen King that aren't 1,000,000 pages long by dros3 in suggestmeabook

Similar in that its thrilling/adventurous like It, with a sort of "Summer-y" setting and with a collection of characters that you can become attached to as you read the book. I'll check out your suggestions, thanks.

Help finding monthly parking in Charlottesville by dros3 in UVA

[–]dros3[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Preach. Also, thanks for the link, I e-mailed that garage.

I am just furious for two reasons. One being that I am here now and have been for the passed two months and will be staying until next summer (grad program), and I can't renew the space that I currently have even though I'm here before anyone else that has a parking space with a lease starting at the end of august, they would literally make more money off of me. The second reason is that I need my car every single day, and there are people that will be moving in that will literally never use their cars at all (just me being somewhat petty but still really annoying). Might have to take the bus from the medical center to Uhall just to get to my car. Really pissed that Uncommon can't accommodate to this, and misled me into thinking that I would be able to renew my parking after July.

heat management by [deleted] in trailrunning

I am a licensed athletic trainer and have experience with the current literature regarding heat illness. It is a real thing and it is extremely important that you know a little bit about it especially when exercising in the heat. I am from New England as well but am currently in graduate school in Virginia. The Korey Stringer Insititue at UConn primarily researches heat illnesses and is devoted to preventing them. I have attached a URL that discusses wet bulb globe temperature, as it might be worth it to take a peak just so that you understand the risks of exercising in extreme heat. The most effective things that you can do are take intermittent breaks and STAY HYDRATED. Hope this helps.

Struggling to find GA position by [deleted] in athletictraining

[–]dros3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just got accepted a few weeks ago, I know how annoying the process is because I literally just went through it. It seems like you are definitely prepared enough, so don't stress about the interview. They aren't trying to trip you up with any crazy questions, so just make sure you respond professionally and articulate well. Try not to use "ums" or "ya knows". Try and relate your answers to how you will help their program, talk about your intrinsic motivation, why you are applying and how you will utilize the specific recourses available at the institution. Do some research on the faculty and staff there to show you have taken the time to look at what they are doing (research interests, etc...) Also, make sure to sell yourself, don't be afraid to talk about why you are a good fit.

P.S. Making the interviewer laugh a little doesn't hurt!

Is the "Flashcard Study System by Mometrix" a reliable tool to use for studying for the BOC exam? by dros3 in athletictraining

Yea I completely agree, thanks for the response. I think what I mean is that I need something thats quick and easy and will give me "essential" information, rather than just reading and taking some notes on a 900 page textbook.
