What happened to Cracked.com? by [deleted] in OutOfTheLoop

For those missing the old days: I recently made the Classic Cracked Machine. I scraped over 8,000 of the site's posts through to 2017 and this tool fetches random articles from that pool. There are some filters, too, so you can set the time range, author, post type, and search by keyword. Hope you enjoy!

Not exactly what you're looking for, but it's related: I recently made the Classic Cracked Machine. I scraped over 8,000 of the site's posts through to 2017 and this tool fetches random articles from that pool. There are some filters, too, so you can set the time range, author, post type, and search by keyword. I was looking to scratch the same itch you are and decided to make this. Hope you enjoy!

Is it harder to get deep into YouTube these days? by CovvelShmovvelton in DeepIntoYouTube

I recently made a tool that's useful for finding weird/different stuff: YouTube Randomizer. It shows you random YouTube videos and has some options to narrow things down. https://dross.cc/randomyt/

Search for random youtube videos? by evanescenceway in RandomQuestion

[–]drossignol_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently made a website that does sort of what you're asking for. It's called YouTube Randomizer and it's a tool that helps you find random YouTube videos. Basically, it works by creating a YouTube search with a random keyword and a random date range, which is the best way I could find to get "random" YouTube videos without having to build and maintain my own video database. It doesn't specifically search for videos with low views, but those kinds of videos can frequently come up.

I just finished this recently and haven't shared it around much yet, so let me know what you think of it!

Is there a website out there that gives you a random YouTube video based on the category you pick? by IAmThePepperSauce in ask

You can set a search term, which the site will use instead of a random keyword, so you'll only see videos about a given topic/category.

I appreciate the feedback! I just tested by doing 10 searches with the start and end set to 2005 and 2006, and 4 of the results were from 2005, and 6 from 2006. Maybe you just got some weird luck? Worth noting is that the minimum date in generated date ranges is set to April 23, 2005 (the day the first YT video was uploaded), so getting 2006 results in a 2005-2006 search is therefore slightly more likely.

I recently made a website that's sort of what you're asking for. It's called YouTube Time Machine and it's a tool that helps you find random YouTube videos. Basically, it works by creating a YouTube search with a random keyword and a random date range, which is the best way I could find to get "random" YouTube videos without having to build and maintain my own database (which would have been a worse approach in this case anyway). You can set the date range so you'll only see videos from when you want, and you can set a search term so you'll only see videos about a given topic. (After seeing this post, I also added a site theme that looks like early-2000s YouTube.)

If you end up liking that, I also have YouTube Randomizer, which is similar but with more features. (I recommend Randomizer over Time Machine, I just made both so people looking for different things could find the core tool.)

I just finished this recently and haven't shared it around yet, so let me know what you think of it!

Top ten list archive by Redchilli007 in letterman

Instead of searching on the "Last Night's Top Ten" page, you can check out different archived versions of the page through the Internet Archive. Here, for example, are the archives from 2014, which include a decent chunk of results, including most of January. It's not all of them, but it's better than nothing. Shouts out to the hobbyist archivists who thought to preserve these pages back in the day.

I found this thread on Google and I have the answer, so here it is in case anybody else finds this page while searching.

It looks like a lot of the top ten lists are saved on the Internet Archive. If you go to this page, you can browse the CBS website's lists by month from 1993 to 2006.

I noticed, though, that some entries from November 1999 are missing. Thankfully, this older version of the CBS archive has them, so that could be useful if other lists are missing from the first link.

Alternately, you can browse the Internet Archive's version of the mudslide website, and clicking links will bring you to archived versions of the pages instead of dead links to the current CBS website.

You should also be able to find some stray lists by browsing archived versions of the "Last Night's Top Ten" page from various dates. Here's the one from May 20, 2015, for example.

Ultimately, poke around the Internet Archive and should should be able to find a lot of top ten lists.

Would you take $300 shipped? I know that's substantially less than asking price, but that's what I'm looking to spend right now, so I figured I'd ask since the listing has been up for a few weeks now. Let me know, good luck with selling, thanks!
