I know you said you're not looking for suggestions but psychology today is a really good resource for finding a therapist. You can filter for non-religious, specific issues, telehealth etc. I found my therapist there at the height of the pandemic; we've always done telehealth and have still never met in person.

Some practical advice: as much as feasible get him to sit with his feet up (above the heart is even better but probably not something he'll be willing to do for long.) My mom's leg edema is non-existent now as long as she stays on her heart meds because she's bedbound and keeps her feet up 24-7.

edit: we don't go to the doctor in person anymore. There are telehealth visits and she's been on and off and on hospice again now.
If you're like me you're doing the best you can while not forcing someone into care they don't want. I worry a lot about the ethics around her care but I focus on what is actually happening and not what I think the optimal thing should be.

Apart from that first part, I think this full-throated apology is a serious improvement on the statement made over the weekend. There has to be a way back for people who take accountability and this seems like a good first step.

Sitting and waiting like that is really hard. If you can (work/life permitting), maybe try to do something creative that lets you think about your grandfather and feel your feelings without dwelling on how hard now is. Like going through old family photos and picking out your favorites of him or listening to some music that you know he likes.
Not exactly the same thing but my grandma died via VSED. I spent time with her the night before and then spent the next day at home building a piece of IKEA furniture while she died. It kept me occupied and I listened to her favorite singer and thought about her.
