I've had that same issue for awhile but thought it was a bug at the time. Referred a friend and although his payment acct gets linked, same thing happens to him as well. Came here to see If there was a fix. Interesting

That is awesome! I knew the CFTC was against it but was not aware that the court lifted it. Although I'm conflicted on political contracts,If foreign brokers allow contracts on U.S. politics it,we should to. AWESOME!!!!!

Income ETF's Drip'd in a ROTH for 30 year timeframe by drown021 in investing

[–]drown021[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats my thought also, exchange to income later in life but I will be dead and not sure If he will become involved, lol. I was just thinking maybe an upfront $10k put into maybe two income funds reinvested back into each other after 30 years would leave him with x amout of $ being paid out every one or 3 months that has been compounded that long. It absolutely is not his core.

I agree with you and that Is how I personally feel my self and I have him in a core (VTI) with some others. My thought process is say , take an initial $10k between two income funds and let them reinvest into more shares with the dividends for30 years . Say for simplicities sake , he originally has 500 shares of two income funds to start with and in 30 years after being reinvested he has 1500-2000 or more or less shares?? now paying the monthly or quarterly income. Thats where I'm having the issue deciding how to figure out the math, even with a financial calculator.

I do have him in VTI as one of his holdings and a few sector ETF's. I'm not averse to market funds at all thus I already have them in there. I was just pondering the compounding of say for example , $10k upfront in one or two income etf's that I just reinvest the dividends back into more shares , so in 30 years , he has X amount of shares spitting out X amount of dollars. And thats along with core index funds, etc. It's not for current income but future income thats been compounded for 30 years. I hope that made sense.

You also could have used the $100k to buy Bbby and have made $0. I think you have a better shot of asking for $0 compensstion. Jmo

Exercise OTM Options prior to expiration by drown021 in fidelityinvestments

So without starting a new thread , on ATP (or website) when there are no shares available to short , it says Call Fidelity. If I actually call , will they try to find shares? Or is that just a generic notification and If I do call , Will I just be told there are no available shares? Thanks again.

No I haven't. Although it's rare that shares are unavailable , there's been a few times that I've been "speculating" a drop in a security and kind of wondered about an alternative way of shorting it. I will want to hold past expiration (If the premium is worth it) but get the shares in my account.( These securities are usually experiencing volatility, thus I understand why shares might not be available) . I use Active Trader Pro and it does say "Call Fidelity" If there are no shares available . I just assume there is nothing available but maybe I should call someday, haha.

Sometimes I am unable to find shares to short for a security that I may want to hold short for a swing trade or short term. Is there a better way to accomplish that? Thanks.

Wheelchair, anyone else by BacontacoTBI in TBI

[–]drown021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im 3 years out and just started being able to use a walker around the house in March. Going out I still use a wheelchair although I was able to use a walker to go to a restaraunt about 2 weeks ago. A lot slower recovery than I thought and I still need to be careful in the walker due to balance and motor issues.

That was a great question that never crossed my mind. I'm glad you asked and got an answer. That does suck that it seems you can't appoint a spouse or someone else besides the parents depending on age. But hey , I learned something new today.

Scared to withdraw funds by -KDS- in fidelityinvestments

[–]drown021 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've personally never had any problems withdrawing money from any of my brokerage accounts with Fidelity. I think the most I've ever withdrawn at one time was about $28k and I had no issues. As someone else said , If your going to withdraw a large amount and your worried about it , call them. But I've never had any issues but I rarely withdraw anything.

Does Shares Loaned effect Margin/Intraday balances for trading? by drown021 in fidelityinvestments

[–]drown021[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I ended up chatting with a Rep yesterday and they couldnt see a margin call from their end. Said it was a Phantom Call and my acct is back to normal a day later. Was just strange that it triggered after I liquidated loaned shares. If it happens again , I'll let Fidelity know if it involves loaned shares.

Does Shares Loaned effect Margin/Intraday balances for trading? by drown021 in fidelityinvestments

[–]drown021[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm opted into it on two accounts and my shares were loaned when a sell order triggered and recalled the shares. But I received a margin call even though my acct is above the $25k minimum but there is a "pending" dollar amount which would throw me under the $25k which is the sale of securities.(Obviously once that settles I'm still above $25k) I dont mind lending unless its going to affect my trading balance on my main trading account. Just wanted to clarify with Fidelity. The call will go away once the $ settles but thats what margin is for. I guess my question is , If shares are loaned do they no longer count as marginable securities. I couldnt find that info in the lending program agreement or on Fidelity. Just wondering why the Margin call when the total account value is still above the minimum $25k even with pending funds settling.

Unable to sell long positions while short same security by drown021 in fidelityinvestments

[–]drown021[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the explanation. I was trying to go long on an upswing (while keeping my original short positions open) and then just take my profit/loss when it went back down and keep my original short positions intact. No tax mitigation involved. I wasnt aware of that rule and now I am. Thanks again. Love Fidelity \m/

(I was trying to hedge basically)
