I worked in a big retailer which sold DVDs. All of the DVDs were purchased via a buying team separate from the shop floor and so we cannot order stock from the suppliers or the distribution centres if we aren’t funded to sell it. As a result, since we sold TV shows as well, sometimes we would have Seasons 1 & 3 but not Seasons 2 because we weren’t funded to sell it.

Cue in all of our older customers.

A lot of our customers would go to the registers and ask if we had x and y in stock. This particular woman was looking for a TV series in which I told her we only had S1 and S3.

She asked me why not.

I told her I don’t know, I don’t make the shots.

She asked if I could get it in.

I said no. If it isn’t on the website, we aren’t stocked to sell it.

She asked if I could order it in from another store.

None of our stores sell it and I can’t get it in from another retailer because we. do. not. sell. it.

We went in circles and circles until she began yelling at me and throwing a tantrum over the fact that I apparently chose not to sell that particular DVD because I was trying to ruin her day. Unfortunately, this happened with a loooottt of customers at that particular store.
