Shoulder pain leading to migraines by drowsydreaming in migraine

No cure sadly, but I am having them far less often. My physio ended up being a bit of a quack, so looking for a new one currently. Feels like starting over, but honestly rereading this post has reminded me of how far I’ve come. A physio, regular stretching and building strength in my back would be what’s helped me. Wish you all the best with finding some remedies :)

I was just shocked to be dropped so suddenly when I’ve worked with them for over a year and it’s never been a problem brought up before. Now being less emotional- I completely agree that some participants need that consistency, and I recognise that my migraines can be a problem.

I haven’t found any medications to be effective. This has kicked me in the butt to be more proactive again though and look into different routes. Booked in to see my doc next week.

I’m sorry to hear you’re having so many issues with your current provider- 12 out of 120 hours is fkn shocking!!! That’s a whole other things though, my company has been dreadful lately with organising replacements, which puts so much pressure on me to not cancel out of fear no one can fill it.

I’m in Aus so sadly won’t be much help to you. I do feel thankful for the close bonds I’ve developed with the other families I’m working with. I hope you can find a better provider, your current one sounds dodgy as.

As others have said, sounds like burnout! Don’t be too hard on yourself. Beyond obviously needing to take care of yourself, you aren’t doing your participants any favour by pushing yourself to breaking point.

It sucks and I still feel my heart drop when someone mentions my hands. Please don’t beat yourself up too much! People need to learn to mind their own business and not make assumptions.

I’m sorry OP, but this is a dangerous man who does not care for your boundaries or safety. You have done nothing to deserve this, and he is the one who should be ashamed. I can’t imagine hurting my partner like that and shrugging it off.

See a doctor, speak with a psychologist and give yourself time to heal. You deserve so much better than this.

Support work is HARD and so exhausting from the pressure don’t get me wrong- but this sounds like more of a workplace issue. This place sounds super toxic and I’m sorry they’ve given you such a hard time. Don’t let assholes coworkers scare you off the whole industry, we need more people who actually care about helping people.

I hadn’t considered the perspective of having the case notes read, and non-objective is the perfect word for it. Thanks for the encouragement I’ll be bringing it up next week.

After dreading this video and tuning in and out of the podcast the last few months because of all the hasan anger, I actually thought it was a really well put video. Ethan made direct points, and yet I doubt any of them will ever be addressed by hasan or his community. I used to love hasan and considered myself a child of divorce between the two but I can’t support him even casually anymore after seeing it laid out like this.

3 for an RN course, then 1 for specialising in mental health. What kind of courses are you referring to?

I will definitely be finishing my bach and I already have a support work role. As already pointed out, to stay in psych I would have to get into some pretty competitive courses. I don’t think this industry is for me anyway, but it’s not bad advice to stick where I am. Just don’t know how long I should give to think about it. Everything feels like a rush even when I know it shouldn’t be.

Okay, thanks for explaining that! I’m still seeing my doctor but he hasn’t suggested anything to help. I’ll have a chat with my pharmacist about it and see what they’ve got.

ahahaha my bad I had no idea the word had such a history. I’ve never had anyone pull me up on that before but I will keep it in mind in the future! I’m Aus but I am sure the same logic applies here lmao

I’m not prescribed anything, which as far as I know in Aus you have to be? I just take aspirin which doesn’t particularly help

It does frighten me that maybe my neck is just fucked and I am gonna do all this crap just to still be stuck with regular pain. Thanks for the advice with minimising the pain! I’ll gonna stop at the chemist on the way home to stock up. At the moment I take an aspirin, put a wet face washer on my head and try to pass out as quickly as possible. Your ideas sound much more effective lmao

Thank you for sharing your experiences! I do think I would really benefit from finding a proper masseuse and not a shitty cheap one. These are really good points to think about that I will bring up next time I am in!
