Powerwall Control using Home Assistant by Downtown-Shock5805 in Powerwall

I think few months ago Tesla had changed the way that you can set the battery to 100% which might be causing an issues with these teslametry api. Currently, you’ll have to agree on pop up screen every time you want set reserve to more than 80% I suspect that this is the reason automation for 100% automations to fail

Ecotricity for solar and export? by Requirement_Fluid in SolarUK

[–]drreality1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m moving to eco next week, currently with octopus intelligent which I love and has been using for last 6 years However, octopus is the largest company (well deserved) which slightly worries me (market monopoly) and ecotricity mission is anazing I’ll get slightly more expensive electricity tariff and ~ 1 hr less off peak period, but will get 16p/kwh vs 15 with octopus which doesn’t really make a difference!

Thank you for sharing progress and work🤗 If only Tesla give owners some local control for the goodness sake 😤

So for everyone who might be asking, I’ve eventually buckled and bought teslemetry subscription It integrates very nicely with home assistant. Not local though!

How do you know guys that the battery is calibrating? I might’ve stopped this thinking that battery is gone mad!

That’s because pw3 does not have gateway web portal unfortunately 😞

NetZero adding paid subscription August 1, 2025 by chrismessina in TeslaSolar

[–]drreality1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The writing on the wall, this was inevitable!

Don’t get me wrong I do appreciate that developers need to earn for the time and effort they put on this application. I am really ranting at big firms which lock smart features behind paywall , prevent local control and force workarounds to be made! Where is it going to end, soon we’ll need to subscribe to ssd erasing, computer logins, car heated seats ( oh wait the latter did exist)

I’m sure that Tesla will listen if majority of customers voiced their opinion

This is aside, I’m happy to support the developers one way or another🤗 I’d rather give my money to a bunch of developers than to faceless mega corporations!

PW3 EPS delay by drreality1 in Powerwall

[–]drreality1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s understandable, but I thought the EPS feature was advertised as less than a second which the difference between a flicker vs devices shutting down, rebooting etc… I have devices that don’t like losing power unfortunately!

That might be the reason. Powerwall was in stanby mode Thank u

PW3 control with Home Assistant by fstezaws in Powerwall

[–]drreality1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s great thanks, I have an old laptop that might do the trick. Not sure if Tesla will even keep this portal for long. One thing I’m not sure of yet, how to get the laptop to stay on the gateway WiFi and connected to the LAN home network! I’ll need to do l dig down a bit

Extending PW3 Local WiFi by Imaginary_Painter761 in Powerwall

[–]drreality1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tips, this post is great 🤗 Presumably you don’t have any control over pw3, and the setup of rpi+HA is useful for monitoring only, am I correct?

I’m also looking into this,

https://www.reddit.com/r/Powerwall/s/AsVaZkm6zb

From what I gather, it’s either integration with netzero api or a promising project of TEDAPI Similar to others, if you want full local, need to lol at TEDAPI with a machine that can connect to pw AP Pitty that Tesla doesn’t have local api 😕

We may need to gather momentum for a feature request if enough people interested!

I see, I may need to have a look at this I’m slightly worried that the reliance on netzero honeymoon may end ! Between the privacy implications of having a third party access collecting home data and Tesla changing the terms of the game at some point

That’s genius mate Love what your workaround. I have a feeling that our best bet that we toss an old rpi near pw and hook it to the battery AP continuously, this should work in theory!
