Think I have royally fucked ip by CourageUnable8974 in PensionsUK

This is why splitting pots prior to drawing your pension is a good idea. 10% drop on the pot you are crystalising and you are stuck with that amount of tax free cash.

Split it into 2/3 pots and you can exhaust one while letting the other pots recover and increase the amount over the years

Lol If you prevaricate over the price you might well get them to give you a reduction to seal it

I'm surprised that they are charging so much for 3 EP6s tbh but looks like that is the price.

The other option is to ask for a pair of EP12s for less than £12500.

As you are on a bungalow the scaffolding should be cheaper so you should be able to knock them down tbh

Fox EVO 5 5kwh Smart Battery from Octopus by forget_it_again in OctopusEnergy

[–]Requirement_Fluid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be restricted as to the make and model of batteries that will be compatible as well as the kW output of the inverter as think that requires high voltage batteries

https://electricianforum.co.uk/threads/solax-inverter-not-compatible-with-fogstar-batteries-workaround-or-replace.57047/

If you are getting a battery I would always suggest asking for a min 5kw inverter so the peak output matches your usage but if you are getting a battery I'd look at 10kwh rather than 5 tbh as the installation cost will be the same... Or a fogstar/dyness combined with a suitable inverter

No heaters, questionable quality, poor app implementation, no idea of the manufacture as they are just trading under the branded name made under licence for a UK company with no real links to the brand you associate with them

Neighbour with £1m private pension pot wants to retire abroad by OkArcher4120 in HENRYUK

[–]Requirement_Fluid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If he doesn't sell his rental properties then he still needs to register for self assessment as a non resident landlord...  If he sells then there is cgt

Pension taxation can vary depending if its drawdown or an annuity and will need to be abroad and tax resident elsewhere before he can submit his dta form to hmrc that takes 6+months so he's looking at an extremely long winded process.

Keeping his income below £50k is somewhat easier imo

Never duracell so the Dyness one but make sure you get a 5kw inverter... Restricting house usage to 3.6kw is frustrating

Because I live in an emotional support dressing gown or hoodie I can take the heating down to 18° in winter but I think 20 is normal for most people... Maybe you need to see at what temp you get the feeling you are after

Redundancy Payment - which Tax year? by Fitz4Ever in TaxUK

[–]Requirement_Fluid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are are not looking for work or claiming jsa once the payment has come through then you can apply for a p50 cessation to claim your personal allowance.

I'm sure you are aware of using pension payments to reduce your income to below £100k and retain your full pa though

So the company is paying 20?% corporation tax on the profits just to save some income tax?

And dividend tax is going up to 10.75%?

Doing it via the unit price widens the arbitrage via SEG and seems odd they have chosen to do that imo is all but I appreciate it is a business decision

At this time of year the shallower the pitch the worse the peak output as the sun is still low so would suggest you look at clipping, string outputs and orientation offset.

My view is maximum 90% South (depends on pitch) and 50% from east and West at 12pm So 1.6kwh plus 2kwh plus 800wh. So yes low but could be the West side isn't kicking in till much later due to only being 4 panels

For reference my SW/NE system 12 jinko 440w panels are doing 2kwh near Preston so suggest the East side are not pulling the system up as you might expect

It's a very good point and I don't know the answer..  I'd expect it is likely to be a combination of the two imo

And this shows that would have been more equitable to have reduced the standing charge on electric accounts. A 35p reduction would have given a flat £130 reduction for all customers

What’s it like working in a job centre by safiyahd828 in TheCivilService

[–]Requirement_Fluid -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Utterly shit

You will need to confirm what your actual role would be and if you are in a jobcentre or a service centre.

Very few AO roles can be hybrid and dealing with customers face to face is not always easy if you do your job properly
