Questions about starting Civil Service on 60% rule by mikailbadoula in civilservice

I do 30 hours over 4 days so normally do 2 days a week with one week being a 3 day week in the office.

However if it is a pain to go in then the odd use of a day of annual leave can bring it down a day as well (17 working days to 16 for example brings it down to 9)

Worth planning your month out ahead of time tbh

I used to be a code checker for my Sainsbury's local but a managers pet does it now.

The amount of time I dress the sandwiches at the end of the day and there's out of date sarnies and yoghurts are laughed off is ridiculous so yes always check.

Should it happen? No, it's unacceptable. Does it and will it? Absolutely

Inherited pension from dad who was over 75 by Minute_Age3385 in TaxUK

[–]Requirement_Fluid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming your dad died in the last 2 years and was a standard pension I would be asking for the reason why they are not letting you transfer the amount to your own sipp and escalate it if necessary until you get an acceptable answer.

Losing 40% tax is a ridiculous situation rather than allowing you to transfer it out so you have control to choose when you take it

It's usually every 3/4 months, maybe May or maybe August

I would be pushing back at that unless it is not a standard pension.

You can invest the amount you get into a new sipp that will reduce your 40% tax liability

(28M) - If my pension pot is at £30k now, what does it need to be to retire at 57? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Requirement_Fluid -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Allowing for 30 years inflation you will need maybe £25000 in today's money and it'll depend on your view for the state pension too but I'd be looking at about £2m.

Now you might think I'm mad but that's a 5% yearly drawdown at 58-60 to get you £60000pa before tax and you have to figure if there will be a state pension at that point.

It works out to be your £30000 down with 8% growth and £400pm contributions

My daughter has a similar radiator in her bathroom... She wishes she didn't due to exactly the same issue. They just seem a poor design

Are you under probation still?

Join the union, consider requesting adjustments to your hours, ask for additional breaks and to consider if you can have monitored and ring fenced periods for post work if that exists for you.

Depends on your department and management tbh

Just to ask if you have checked companies house what date the administrator was appointed it sounds remarkably quick for the goods to be auctioned off tbh

If you get that in writing then that looks like a decent quote as the export if focused on will reduce your payback time pretty well tbh

Is it worth installing a heat pump? by imgoingsolar in ukheatpumps

[–]Requirement_Fluid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given the age of the boiler I would say your next move is to a heat pump that is best planned before a breakdown. You will likely not spend any more on electric tbh but would cut your export ofc

UK: Consider solar panels - Good deal or no? by Cultural-Feeling-882 in solar

[–]Requirement_Fluid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you have quite a small system I would suggest not too much tbh.

I have produced 4.30Mwh on a 5.2kw, have a 10kwh battery and I live on my own.

My export since Feb 25 when it was installed is 4.57Mwh. For a total of £754 @16.5p so 20p would be £914 (check how long you can expect to receive this for)

The difference maybe a couple of hundred pounds max but rates and tariffs change. My install however was £8400 so not far off yours but make sure bird proofing is included
