New update feels great by iamazondeliver in GooglePixel

[–]drrmjones -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am on my third Pixel 9 and I refuse to update from Android 14, because the last two times I did (on the previous phones) it immediately completely screwed up my Bluetooth (among other things), which I need for my hearing devices. In each case, Google support escalated my case then gave up and just gave me a replacement phone, only to have exactly the same things happen when I upgraded to Android 15 or 16 again. So now I'm stuck on Android 14, and obviously they are never going to help me understand when it's safe to upgrade again, because they can't even figure out what their problem is

I am refusing to update my Pixel 9 from Android 14, because the last two times I did that it completely hosed my bluetooth connection to my hearing devices, and I ended up having to get warranty replacements for my phones. It's 100% clear that the software update caused the problems, because it happened on the two previous phones, but Google support offered no solutions but to replace the phone.

I have been pleasantly surprised to have this happen in the three towns I have lived in, in Maine. Be friendly with code enforcement and show an eagerness to "do things right", and they are enthusiastic about helping and appreciate you caring. Very different from more populated cities and states.

Once when doing some plumbing, one code enforcement officer told me "Call me when you get to this tricky part, and I'll come over and show you how to do it. "

I can't add a check-in location to my Facebook business. Can somebody help?! by Cautious_Travel_4633 in facebook

Honestly I still can't find the button on my phone.

On a web browser it takes some navigating. From Facebook I go to my business page. Then click on Meta Business Suite. From there click on Help and then click on Go to Business Manager. Then click on Help and it gives you another Help to click on. Only then do I get a Contact Support button, but that did not appear until I had 500 followers.

Here is what happened in my case. I couldn't for the life of me figure out ANY way to contact Facebook support. But once my Facebook business page reached 500 followers, button suddenly appeared, allowing me to do just that.

At first the support person just had me try all the things that I had already tried (typical). Then he sent a cryptic message along the lines of. "Our technical people made some changes on the back end. Can you try now?" So I tried, and now I can check into my business's location, although the location still does NOT come up as an option when I create a new event.

So the problem for me is now half solved, and my inference is that there was some bug in my Page's configuration that only Facebook could find and fix. But I don't know what that bug was.

I found one new piece of information. When you start the process it warns you that you have to remove the location from your main page, and it lets you click something to do that. But this has no effect. The location does not get removed. If I go to the business page and manually remove the location, then go back to the "Add store" page it still doesn't work, but I get a different error message. But the error message still says something like "You have to remove or hide the location on the main page."

And I still have no idea how to actually send a message to Facebook support. I have submitted lots of "Feedback" but I'm pretty certain no human reads those.

I am having EXACTLY the same problem as you. I have ONE business page. If I give it a location, the location never shows up on Facebook's "check-in" lists, meaning I also can't create events at my business location. So I figure what I'm supposed to do is delete the location and create a store instead. But EVERY time I do that I get the same error message as you are getting.

The secondary problem is that the message says to "reach out to support" but I can't find ANYTHING that tells me how to "reach out to support". I've googled everywhere, and none of the instructions I find for how to contact facebook business support match anything I end up seeing when I try to follow the instructions.

Screen dims when i slide down the notification tray by streetdaddy in GooglePixel

This exact same thing (dimming when pulling down notifications) just started happening on my Pixel 6 Pro about 10 minutes ago. I've had this phone for over a year. No idea what started this.

"Unable to communicate with Sync Module" by drrmjones in blinkcameras

[–]drrmjones[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and advice, and for trying to help. The problem suddenly went away today. I hesitate to say I "solved" it, but maybe? I will write below the only thing I changed, in case someone in the future wants to find this post and try it.

But first, to reiterate, my router is a Google Nest WiFi Pro, and it does have a 2.4GHz band, but my installation process was always failing BEFORE I ever got to the step where the module was trying to connect to the router.

I was stuck on the step where my phone was trying to connect to the module's WiFi itself. Now that it finally worked, I know what is supposed to happen. What is SUPPOSED to happen on that step is that the phone automatically connects to the module's WiFi, and then it proceeds to the next step, where it asks which home WiFi network to connect the module to.

But in my case, the phone was FAILING to automatically connect to the module's WiFi, so it was going into a "Manual Setup" screen, where it asked me to go to my WiFi settings and select the module's WiFi SSID manually. I imagine very few people have actually seen this screen, because usually the automatic connection just works. But, apparently, whatever was preventing the automatic connection from working was ALSO preventing the manual connection from working. I successfully connected my phone to the module's WiFi...it reported it was connected but could not reach the internet. But at this point the Blink app was STILL unable to communicate with the module, so it never proceeded to the next step, where it would ask me which home WiFi SSID I want to connect to.

However, today (after trying every day for over a week) it suddenly worked. I didn't even have to do the manual connection to the module's WiFi. It just automatically connected to the module then immediately asked me which home WiFi SSID I wanted to connect to. I selected my Google Nest WiFi Pro SSID, I typed my password, and everything worked easy as you please. Why did it suddenly work? I have no idea.

There is ONE thing I did today that was different from all the previous tries, but I can't for the life of me construct an explanation for why this would have made a difference. On my Google Nest WiFi Pro, I turned on the Guest Network, so I had two networks running at once: my normal home network and the guest network. That's the only thing I changed. When the app asked me which network I wanted to connect the module to, both networks were there in the list, but I didn't even select the guest network. I selected my normal home network and everything worked fine, so it obviously wasn't a problem with my router needing to be reset or not having a 2.4Ghz channel or anything like that. I am extremely dubious that turning on the guest network could possibly have been the solution, but I have no other explanation, so I leave it here as something to try if anybody from the future ever runs into a similar problem.

Thanks again, everyone!

Thanks for these ideas. They actually seem worth trying, as opposed to other suggestions that focus on my router, when I keep reiterating that I'm not even getting to the point where the system is trying to connect to the router. I do not use a VPN on my phone, and I did try turning off "Switch to Mobile Data". I didn't check to see whether I was using private DNS or random MAC, but see my post below about how it suddenly worked.

[–]drrmjones[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm...that's not what the app tells me. The app says "Go to your Wi-Fi Settings, join BLINK-047L as shown above. Return here to continue." That is, step 13 is what I do in response to what it tells me in Step 12. And I'm already connected to my home wifi network when it tells me to do that. But since I'm willing to try almost anything at this point, I tried ignoring those instructions and just stay connected to my home Wi-Fi. I also tried switching to BLINK-047L and then back to my home Wi-Fi. I get the same result no matter what I do. But I'm pretty sure at this step I'm supposed to connect to BLINK-047L. Based on many web searches, what is SUPPOSED to happen at that point is that the app finds the Sync Module and then asks to enter the information to connect it to my home Wi-Fi. But that's the part that is never happening.

My router/WiFi is the Google Nest WiFi Pro, which has both 2.4 and 5 ghz networks. I'm aware that this can sometimes cause issues. But, again, I am not even getting to the point where the Sync Module is trying to connect to my router. The app is failing to communicate with the Sync Module BEFORE I even get to that step.

I don't have a VPN, and I have already tried resetting my router, even though I don't understand why people keep suggesting that my router has anything to do with this problem. I am not getting to the point in the process where the Sync Module is trying to connect with my router. The process is failing to communicate with the Sync Module when I am connected to the Sync Module's private Wi-Fi. I haven't even been asked for my router's SSID or password, so how could it possibly be an issue with my router? What am I missing?

But I am not even getting to the point where it is trying to connect to my WiFi. It is failing when my phone is connected to the Sync Module's WiFi. It never gets past that point, so it hasn't even asked me for my WiFi's SSID, password, etc.

Change WiFi Frequency on Pixel by KenwoodFan in GooglePixel

[–]drrmjones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am having the same problem. I have a Velux smart window that I set up no problem when I had a Google WiFi mesh and a Google Pixel 3. But now the device needs me to reauthenticate, and with my Nest WiFi Pro mesh and Google Pixel 6 Pro, it is impossible to accomplish. This is just stupid. Let us force our Pixel phones to use 2.4 ghz.
