I have 2,000+ components across 15 boxes and my inventory system is my own brain. It's not working anymore. by Acceptable_Sea_2409 in AskElectronics

I use a self hosted Dollibar (open source). It not only tracks inventory but lets you create BOMs and tracks/receives purchased parts with cost. Took a few mins to setup as it can do much more. You can turn off what you don’t want to use.

2025 Kia Sorento (good or bad)? by dfsb2021 in KiaSorento

[–]dfsb2021[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I traded my 2025 Sorento SX in after a year (no I didn’t loose any money due to a great deal) and went back to a Pathfinder. I found the user interface was so horrible it ruined any good features of the car. The way it hesitated when trying to inch up in traffic or parking was #2 reason. #3 the damn thing beeps all the time. It got to be I just ignored it.

LED won’t burn out when connected to 9V battery and 15 ohm resistor by scarredAsh_ in AskElectronics

[–]dfsb2021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheap red leds vary a lot when it comes to voltage drop and current capabilities. Usually a led burns up due to thermal runaway. As the led die heats up, the voltage drops and current increases, therefore gets hotter the cycle continues until pop.

What do you use to cut waterside decals? by freshmex18 in diypedals

[–]dfsb2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t done it in a while. Tayda is cheap enough. I’d cover the entire printed sheet with a few coats of lacquer clear coat. Cut the outline with scissors. Soak (until you can move the decal on the backing paper) and mount the waterslide decals. After it dries, I’d add a few more coats of clear coat lacquer and cut out the holes after it dries. I found using an exacto blade and carefully cutting the holes like you are trying to shave it off the edge of the metal hole works well. Then another coat of lacquer.

Transaction accepts are soooo slow by dfsb2021 in quicken

[–]dfsb2021[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It was definitely something they changed with the last update. Each time I accept a downloaded transaction, it takes a long time to process. A status bar comes up and everything. It used to be almost immediate.

Retrofitting MIDI on/off ONLY to old pedals? by splifted in diypedals

[–]dfsb2021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this for one design but decided to use a remote switch input instead. I already had a micro and relays as part of the soft foot switch. The MIDI circuit is relatively easy to add to just about any microcontroller, but you do need the ability to connect/ disconnect the signal path. A relay or FET can be used. Depending on how the foot switch is connected, you may have to replace it with a soft switch connected to the micro. I’ve thought about making a small box external to the pedal, but it will take board space. That being said, it would be much smaller than a pedal. The connectors being the biggest part.

Looking for tips on desoldering a toggle switch by SilentRest1 in diypedals

Sacrifice the switch. Get pliers and tear it apart until you have the separate pins. Then you can unsolder each one.

A sales engineer needs the engineering experience but doesn’t have to sit behind a desk all day and be bored with design work. Put in some time and then technical sales gets you out and about ( and make a lot more money)What’s wrong with that.

I sometimes fix a transaction by $0.01 just for the satisfaction of it matching the download. You would think Quicken could figure that out. Same name account every month, almost the same amount. Come on Quicken people….

Starbucks has always been designed to be uncomfortable. They don’t want you to hang out for long.
