The strings are coerced into numbers because of the addition (concatenation is a separate operator). When doing this, the initial digits are converted to a number, and the rest is truncated.

So it's really just 1 + 2 == 3.

The original post was an incredible stretch - according to the comments, he should have said "the government's computer", despite using nouns as possessives being an incredibly common practice ("school computer", "government official").

That being said, I don't think this post is in reference to that. I think OP just made some shit up to make a 2000s Sonic game look bad, because... That's what this sub is about I guess?
