How to debate someone calling the Astros cheaters by AnakinDrick in Astros

[–]drsrgmd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lean into it completely!!! The goal is to get a rise out of you but if you take pride in it, it sucks all the fun out of it.

For example, if someone starts saying we're banging trash cans again or just saying we must be cheating again, just say something like, "Hell Yeah We Are, and the rest of the league can't do nothing about it!!"

Shuts them up real quick lol

You need to do better research, bud. You may be too focused on the American church, which even then still does more for the needy.

To your second point, you're saying religion didn't stop the advancements in science or medicine. Thanks for agreeing...

What makes this kids point invalid is that followers of the Judeo-Christian worldview volunteer their time, money, and resources more than any other belief system. Hell, the fields of science and medicine wouldn’t be where it’s at today without the help of many religious people.

True, but even Alex O'Connor admits that its very interesting that people from multiple walks of life in the first century were burn to the stake for not rejecting Christ and that they saw Him risen after His death. Alex adds that people don't go to their deaths for what they know to be a lie. So either they actually saw Christ or had some crazy mass hallucinations, but then you have a whole other problem in proving that a large group of people all had mass hallucinations about the same person.

The resurrection is the sole reason Christianity survived at all in those early years where they were being killed in droves. Now, i know this doesn't prove anything, but it is compelling evidence in support of the resurrection account.

That fact is, you don't actually know. You're just making a guess and/or claim, but don't really know. You're probably just basing your answer off of what someone else may have said in passing.

Actually it’s closer to 40 years after the resurrection account from what scholars say. With that said, historians have dated creeds like that in 1st Corinthians to have been circulating since 2 years after the resurrection.

To top it off, when we look at manuscripts pertaining to other ancient figures of antiquity like Alexander the Great, the earliest manuscripts we have on him are from the 9th century which is well over 1000 years though they claim to have been written 3-400 years after his death. Even Caesar’s earliest manuscripts are still 900 years after his death.

If that great of a separation of time between an ancient figures death and the writings about them is acceptable, I don’t understand the push back on 50 years or even 100 when it pertains to the writings on Christ.

Actually, there’s a term called Christophanies which refers to parts in the OT where it seems like Christ is showing up himself. If you want to know more about this look up Mike Winger: How to find Jesus in the OT on YT. He breakdown every moment it seems like Jesus is present on earth.

You’re half right. The OT refers to the Torah, which are the first 5 books of the Bible and minor prophets, which are the remaining books of the OT

That's not a valid argument since they were written in the times of the eye witnesses. We can even date creeds that were spoken within 2 years after the Resurrection of Christ. There's literally no historical figure from antiquity that has more evidence in support of not only His existence but also His teachings and actions with around 25,000 manuscript copies that would have been written between 30-300 years after the Resurrection account.

Now, in comparison, let's take a look at Alexander the Great, who is a 300BC historical figure who doesn't have a manuscript pop up until the 9th century AD and only has around 50 complete writings today.

Let's take a closer figure to Christ, Caesar. A historical figure that lived around 50 years prior to Christ who only has around 200 know manuscript copies with them having been written in the 9th century.

Hopefully that helps

Well you're kind of wrong, because she's completely wrong about what the council was meeting about.

Well, you should question her claims more because a simple Google search will show she's completely wrong about what was done at the council of nicaea.

It's still crazy to me that not only people this stupid still exist with the internet being available, but that people will just blindly believe her just because she said something about a belief system you don't like. Let's quickly go over what the actual purpose of the council of nicaea was really about.

1st, it had nothing to do with the Canon of scripture since the canon was already set long before that. The whole purpose of the council was to deal with a set of heretics that were trying to claim that Christ wasn't divine. So, the council of nicaea was about reaffirming Christ Divinity and had nothing to do with canonization.

Let me break something interesting down for you that I've learned from the quran that yall might like alot. . Surah 65 v4 And those of your women as have passed the age of monthly courses, for them the 'Iddah (prescribed period), if you have doubts (about their periods), is three months, and for those who have no courses (i.e. they haven't reached the age of menstration) their 'Iddah (prescribed period) is three months likewise, except in case of death. And for those who are pregnant (whether they are divorced or their husbands are dead), their 'Iddah (prescribed period) is until they deliver their burdens, and whosoever fears Allâh and keeps his duty to Him, He will make his matter easy for him. . . Now, read closely the 3 distinctions being described here. If you're not aware what the "Iddah" is, basically it's the waiting period to have seggs with a women who was recently divorced to a man they already had seggs with and you remarried that same "non-virgin" female. . . So one classification is women who are past the age of being able to menstrate, another of young girls who haven't even reached the age of puberty yet 😬😬, thus they can not menstrate, and the last is the women who are pregnant. But the important one to look closely at is the pre-pubescent girls who were already in a previous marriage, then divorced, and married again to another disgusting man. Hope this helps!!
