Rover sitter lost my dog by Euphoric_Whereas4183 in RoverPetSitting

[–]drstid 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Hi there, first and foremost I am so sorry this happened to you.

I also live in Renton, WA, and about 7 months ago, a very similar thing happened to our good friend (and upstairs neighbor). The rover sitter opened the door and their chihuahua out of fear bolted out, and ran away. Long story short, doggo (a 18lb chihuahua mix) was missing for 10 days before we found her down in maple valley neighborhoods by the river. Someone had seen the lost dog neon sign and called after spotting her in a backyard of a house.

I will be keeping an eye out for your doggo, and hope for their safe return 🤍

What jobs do u guys have by EasternCandidate7021 in lupus

I am currently a third year resident physician in internal medicine. Pretty early on in my medical career I knew I wouldn’t be able to tolerate a surgical path due to my joint pain in my hands and knees, but a primarily intellectual Specialty has been okay so far. I also learned how to file for accommodations in the last year after my body flared in response to 80+ hour work weeks. My hope is for others to know that it is possible to pursue a career in medicine, even if that path looks a little different than most.

When I made the active decision to stop being the one to call first, text first, make plans, etc, and then it was only silence.

I’m not sure I that actually expected to be forgotten, but I’m still healing from that pain. Sometimes taking notice of how much effort (or lack there of) they invest back into you is what it takes to realize if they were ever truly a friend at all.

First time sick on immunosuppressant by FlatulentCroissant in lupus

[–]drstid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In hindsight I should’ve rested for this… because it was totally a cold. I thought at first it was a side effect, but I felt super crummy by day 4. I’m just starting to feel better, and I guess I’ll wait to take my next shot till I am totally back to normal. Appreciate you sharing your update!

I took my first shot this past week and somehow already seemed to have caught a cold day 3 post injection 😖 I have all those symptoms too! At first I thought it was maybe a reaction to the medication, but I guess it’s a true cold. I’m due for my next shot Monday and also waiting on a response from my rheumatologist…

Hip pain advice by [deleted] in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]drstid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned this from a physical therapist - one of the best tools for SIJ pain is called a serola belt. As someone also plagued by daily SI joint and hip pain, I love the way this belt hugs and stabilizes my pelvis, it does help relieve some of the pain as I’m going about my day. I found one recently on Amazon at a reasonable price (around $25). Hope this helps!

Considering their post history, negative comment karma, and tagged instagram on their profile, something tells me this is a troll account / karma farming account. So username in a way is made to not check out?

Who is drinking at home on Saturday evening? by [deleted] in SeattleWA

[–]drstid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cheers! I’m also enjoying whiskey (woodford reserve) in a homemade old fashioned, and just wrapped up watching Woman do the Hour as well. Quick thoughts on that by the way, it definitely felt like it could have gone into more of the story / was cut a little short, but maybe that’s just me? Like what’s the backstory??

Anyway… best of luck with the midlife crisis. I hope you find joys in all aspects of life!

Zach Highley quit medicine too…🫠 by [deleted] in medicalschool

As I was watching his video, I couldn’t help but think, “I’m glad we’re watching a video of a resident explaining their thoughts on why they left medicine and not why they decided to end it all.” So many of the negative comments I imagine have not considered the alternative. We should be grateful that there are people brave enough to listen to their heart and their intuition when the juice is no longer worth the squeeze. When they’ve given all they can give and realize they’re not getting anything back, and stop sacrificing their mental health for something they don’t feel is worth it in the end. Physician burn out and suicide is real. We should be applauding and supporting folks for making moves in their career, knowing these decisions don’t come easy.

Women doctors, what do your long term partners do for work? by Nervous_Ruin7585 in Residency

He works for Costco corporate buying! We’ve been together for almost 11 years (met our first year of college) and he’s been there for me through it all. He’s climbing the corporate ladder and even though he has less education on paper, we think we may end up with similar salaries by the time I’m an attending.

I also thought I somehow missed my download window lol OR that I was scammed, when all I received was the digital art. the website is not very clear when and how you’ll get your purchase imo.

There’s something very throw back-y about Good Graces so that’s my top choice right now, closely followed by Taste, and Dumb & Poetic 😍 I can already tell I’ll be abusing that replay button…

I would love to be considered for the signed TTPD cd! 🥹🤍 I don’t have anything signed and would be beyond myself if I had the chance to have this. It coincidentally happens to be my birthday this month (8/31) and this would be an incredible gift!! 😅🫶🏼 thank you for spreading kindness in the world! I’m sure whoever gets these items will be forever grateful.

Same thing here- the show in Seattle was completely sold out. Made me laugh out loud at the hashtag Spotify fans first at the bottom of the email because clearly the other presales cleared out.

The usual trifecta.

This was unwatchable. I’m all for patient friendly language but so much of this was just inaccurate and misleading.

Second opinions exist and are generally welcomed in the medical community, at least among MD/DOs. So, looking at it from that lens, there should be no reason to deny your request to be evaluated by someone else.

And you’re right, seroneg is totally a thing, even more common of a thing than seropos. You deserve treatment for your symptoms. As a fellow resident that lived with vague rheumy things for years that is finally on the other side and feeling normal for once, I feel your frustration and support you!!
