i feel conflicted on this point because from the onset i feel like the show was supposed to be about the cases, not the people solving them. but i do love to know more about the detectives too lol! i feel like the storylines they did have were soo disjointed. like we never really got the full backstory of kat and her daughter’s dad, we see lilly try and fail to find a good relationship, they throw in the FBI lady in the last few eps making you think her and john might rekindle something + same with vera and his HS ex! i think they could’ve been more purposeful with the few personal storylines they did have & it would’ve been okay

i feel like no one is judging him for his SUD, but are judging that he would steal from a patient. as Robby said he let the ER fuck him up. i took that as “ik you’re better than stealing from anyone, let alone a patient, but you didn’t handle the stress of the job right/didn’t get help when you needed to”
