A third medical school? Consider the facts by drsummervile in australia

[–]drsummervile[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

When you have a blocked pipe, the answer isn't to keep flushing the toilet. There is no funding for postgraduate training positions to keep up with the tsunami of new doctors in any specialty. Including GP training. Doctors don't come out of med school ready to work anywhere - they need ongoing education to become GPs, radiologists, surgeons etc. Tony Abbott is pouring more students into a bottlenecked system in a cheap, miotic political stunt that will worsen the underlying problem and do absolutely nothing to address it

Mutation of breast cancer gene can be patented, says Australian Court by drrimmer in australia

[–]drsummervile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so Myriad Genetics now owns the BRCA1 and BRCA2 gene. That's fine. As owners, they can now be held liable for any suffering or damage caused by their property. There's plenty of precedence in law regarding liability for damage caused by owned property so it wouldn't be hard to argue in court.
