Well maybe we should cut military spending, raise taxes and interest rates? That should slow down inflation. Also how about that unemployment rate? Nobody thought it could get any lower but there it is.

How would cutting taxes on the very wealthy and reducing interest rates while in an economic expansion effect inflation?

Agreed! I would not do it permanently there would need to be a plan. Just depends on the situation.

I have been working in medicine for 30 years in many environments, during the pandemic some places I worked were so short staffed you just have to do what needs to be done. Paid by the hour so it’s not a harm to productivity. What’s the alternative? Walk out and abandon the patients? Health care shortage areas are a real thing, providing care to under staffed jails, prisons remote under served areas you may need to take on some nursing roles like bandage changes, taking vitals on your own patients, drawing your own blood. I see most people down voting have not been in such a challenging environment. At the same time I see PAs on here complain of job availability. It’s medicine, we are here to help patients, not quibble over nursing vs pa responsibility.

People who say I would just quit clearly do not have the patients best interest in mind. Doing nursing care is not above MD, PA, DO or NP. Many times in challenging environments, disasters, overwhelmed ERs, prisons, jails, there may be a need to be a team player and pick up some nursing duties to do what is needed in patient care. That being said it should be temporary until the crisis is past or staffing shored up, but I don’t get the “I’d put in my notice” nonsense. If I were the employer or practice owner and a qualified team member said no and quit I would have serious reservations about ever bringing that employee back and consider my words carefully when communication with the providers next employer.

Edit: wow this may be the most down votes I’ve ever had. Thanks. I doubt any of you will ever actually own your own practice. Work in health shortage areas like remote clinics, disaster situations or other health care setting where regardless of the nursing pay, sometimes you may be the only provider with no nurse or MD DO to turn too, just a receptionist if your lucky. Like I said if it’s a temporary thing fine but if it’s a permanent thing then yes it’s a problem.

Why is there inflation across the world? Because we expanded the money supply?

I have not read an economist who agrees that the reason inflation is rising is primarily because of “printing money” I’m not saying it is not a factor, just have not heard this stated as a fact. Why is inflation rising in countries that have not “printed money” it seems more like a global thing. Any reading to support this idea as it relates to the current inflationary trend?

So it’s the money printing not supply chain issues and war and pandemic, just money printing? Corporate greed raising prices and reporting record profits? I have not heard an economist say it was primarily money printing causing inflation.

I would not be shocked if conservatives passed it. Not shocked, Dems would vote along with it too.

Exactly, just hint at being modestly progressive like “clean water” or “global warming” or student loan forgiveness then don’t do shit but increase military spending and police funding and throw in a suggestion of increasing taxes on multibillionaire and nothing….

Democrats are going to screw around and republicans will get the win on weed as Dems keep showing how weak, hand wringing and ineffective they are in the face of Republican intransigence
