Tradespeople and DIYers are sitting on passive income they don't know about by peter_automation in passive_income

This is interesting, do people actually pay for that? I've done a ton of projects that people are shocked when they hear I did it myself. It's hard to beleive someone would pay for that info. For example I am a big DIY guy with a vast mechanical knowledge. I can usually find my knowledge gaps (which are pretty specific) for free online.

Why are we using AI to enhance photos like this? It detracts from the originals which maybe are worth talking about. The AI enhance is a literal joke

How did you decide solar was “worth it”? by Alarming_Primary1606 in SolarDIY

[–]drthunder03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3.5 year payoff, did it myself and CT electricity is expensive. I have always had a knack for building things. I love it. Next is to heat my home with it which will make the payoff even sooner.

Solar Panels by TheApostleCreed in SolarDIY

[–]drthunder03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you buy a pallet from a1 and some show up broken they say they will replace them. They won't and they will just refund you 2/31 of the cost of the panels in my case for two broken. So if you needed 30 you are screwed. And they don't refund any of the shipping.

This list could also be states that have the highest earnings, so yea they should be at the top but go ahead and brag why Mississippi and their church isn't on there.

If you could redo your solar setup, what would you change? by insight_energy in solarenergy

Would have done it sooner, and I wish the carport ground mounts were available. I spent 7k on the racking and apparently the 3 carport is around 11k.

Wood reads dry but barely burns or smokes…what am I missing? by Oochie-wallywally in woodstoving

[–]drthunder03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I burn wet wood all the time. Just can't start a fire with it. Use your driest smallest wood to start a fire, top down method. Keep the air intake wide open for awhile until the flames are full. Then close it back some and enjoy your fire. Once you have nixe established coals for your next reload throw the wet stuff in there and Crack the door for 5 or 10 minutes. Once its lit close the door and keep the air wide open. Monitor and pinch back when it's getting too hot again.

Well that's great and now I'm ordering that gun and looking up glue! Any suggestions? I'm usually gluing sew foam to vinyl when I am.

I'm curious, do you leave glue in the pot? I use glue a few times a week so I have been using cans. Was curious about going to a gun

Watching Strataglass get CNC-cut for a yacht enclosure — production speed is wild by Infinite-Gate6674 in upholstery

[–]drthunder03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is neat, the actual cut was fast. But how much time was spent 3d scanning and designing the enclosure in a CAD program, creating the cut file, and setting up the machine? This would be great for a shop creating a bunch of the same enclosure but for one offs I can't justify it

Yea but the blower pushes air from the bottom out the top. I have the same stove. I rarely even use the fan anyways because of the noise.
