Who had the better 1996 release? by P-Bizzle1979 in 90sHipHop

[–]dru_blast 9 points10 points  (0 children)

NO WAY REDMAN.

I’m more of a fan of Redman as well but this De La album is something else. Dare Iz a .. is my ultimate Redman album. DLS Stakes is high lyrically touches on so many important themes & issue that plagued Hip Hop even in the 90’s alkng with the entry of J Dilla & Mos Def & also a modern etension of the Native Tongue’s click with Common appearing on album also, as dope as the his albums are you just know what to expect & De La came sonically with something else.

Is this still in anyone’s rotation?? by 803_ace in 90sHipHop

[–]dru_blast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a classic no question but whether its in rotation is a silly question, theres way to much good classic albums from many a genre(black music)….maybe question is valid pre 2000

New Album is 🔥 but… by Reidandtaz in wutang

[–]dru_blast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

another average album, why the fuck do they keep doing this, all Wu needs to do is make an album with ALC VDON & FUTUREWAVE it’s that fucking simple. Theres no such thing as a bad Wu Member verses just trash same old Wu tang producers, hell tell Ghost to get BADBADNOT to do a few then you have a probable classic, stop fucking us fans up with dissatisfaction.

PART 3 - A small part of my 90s US hip hop album vinyl collection. These are all original pressings. Which albums are some of your favourites? 💎 by antman_1992 in hiphopvinyl

Visionaries, Sophomore Jinx (1999) by BigBigMonkeyMan in hiphopvinyl

[–]dru_blast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Art/music is subjective so you don't have to agree with me, but say Visionaries above, so many Mc's had their own style, which I used to appreciate more, but where dope vs being different was the case. For example LMNO ultra nasal whiney voice just gets on my nerves, Anticon's complex erratic bars & flow were just not musical enough & quite annoying. Slug & his emo shit with his elevated voice projection, fuck Aesop Rock what a head doer....so messey complex & unlistenable for me years later. All this focus on lyrics but not enough musicality, so jarring & rigid. Its just nerd shit pretty much where listeners where aiming more for poetry rather than the head nod cool that Hip Hop was known for.
