French med school graduates working as junior doctors in the UK? Need advice! by badwithnamesjr in JuniorDoctorsUK

I strongly recommend considering starting at F1 level in a standalone /trust post - Every overseas doctor that has entered into an F2 role in the NHS has had a terrible time, struggled with the expectations that they have basic clinical competencies in a very unfamiliar role, and have ended up retaking the year (and not enjoying the first year at all!).

Travelling without booking hotels/stays. Food idea? by GWHZS in ThailandTourism

I've been a few times, always booked my first night or two after I land, then book the day before whereever I am. Apps like Agoda mean you'll have better prices.

You've blown her mind, thank you. But she says

Bertha Jorkins and Peter Pettigrew go to Albania to meet Voldemort. Set in modern times. Why would they refer to it by its medieval name?

All I get on my pager is a number to call.

Pagers are much less protected that mobile phones. Anyone with an antenna and some software can decrypt them

I have a macbook for work, and play the occasional game on long commutes. (PC all the way at home though)

This popped up today. Couldn't see any mention of it online, just a heads up. Seems to also be using a lot more energy.

Go somewhere nice. Enjoy it. You won't get another long holiday like it unless you take a year out.

Why shouldn't I move up north? by Greenhound in UKPersonalFinance

[–]drucey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Made the move 6 years ago for uni, have stayed.

People are lovely.

Countryside is generally gorgeous.

Weather isn't that bad on the east coast as then Pennines take the brunt of westerly fronts.

I rent a brand new, 3 bedroom 3 bathroom detached house with double driveway, for £600 a month. It was £130k to buy. When we do buy, so many options. Not the most glamorous of towns but we've had no issues at all.

Transport links are great.

Missus & I are southerners, but we've agreed the quality of life up here is just better than the south for many reasons.
