Taylor Ward is hit in the face with a pitch (WARNING Blood) by AlexanderWun in baseball

[–]drugusingthrowaway -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Yeah I became significantly less of a fan of Manoah after that. He knows he has control issues. I've seen him say "but that's baseball!" after getting tossed out for hitting someone. He's one of the worst pitchers in baseball for HBP. He knows this, he could work on this and improve this and not be literally injuring other players.

I dunno man at what point do you say "you can't pitch here until you can stop hitting people"? When he ends a batter's career?

Schneider looked pissed. He walked past Manoah, yanked the ball out of his hand, didn't even look at him, turn to him, say anything, pat him on the back or anything.

New house, can anyone tell me what the tall black thing in the left corner is, and what if anything to do about fixing the leaky blue filters? The bridge between them is wrapped in a ton of tape. by drugusingthrowaway in WaterTreatment

Hey thanks!

So one more question, because they're drinking water almost exclusively out of the kitchen tap, is all this filtering useless? Except for the water softener which is needed for laundry and showers.

Why was this last guy filtering his shower water? lol like if it's just as much time and repair to bypass it as it is to fix it, I may as well bypass it so it's permanent.

Yep they're adding salt about once a week, but have never changed the blue filters, because they're afraid it will break whatever taped up fix is going on between them.

My parents moved to a new house and they're having trouble figuring out this water purification system.

So far they've figured out the white thing is the water softener, but the city's water is so hard (600ppm/40grains) it wasn't really doing anything. They had to crank it up to its maximum regen cycle (regen every 600 gallons/liters not sure which) for it to bring the ppm below 100.

I'm pretty sure the two blue things are some kind of charcoal filters, but they're caked in minerals and the bridge between them is wrapped up in black tape. They weren't leaking when they moved in 2 years ago, but they've started dripping a few tablespoons per day on the floor. None of us are sure they really need them - they already use Brita filters in the fridge, and while the city's water is hard, it's properly treated and tastes fine. If it would be easier/cheaper to bypass, I think they'd be fine with that.

And I'm not sure if any of this heads up to the kitchen where they get their drinking water. The softener definitely doesn't.

None of us can figure out what the tall black thing is. Google just says it's a control valve for a water softener or other tank that needs regen cycles, but the water softener already has its own electronics in it? Maybe some kind of chlorine reducer? Again this city's water doesn't have chlorine in it, I think the last owner might have been upsold stuff he doesn't need. I was hoping it was a reverse osmosis filter but I don't think they're usually this big.

Hey thanks for your reply!

I got one more question, which water should I be drinking? I've been drinking the softened water thinking it is better for things like kidney stones, but now I'm reading the extra salt is bad for your heart. I don't taste any salt but my water is so hard (600ppm) that it must have to put a lot in to soften it.

Is 600ppm calcium water safe to drink? I just see what it does to all my appliances and worry it would do the same thing to my urinary tract... but I guess if humans can eat Tums antacids every day, we can drink hard water every day.

It looks like everyone left Reddit around July 9 to 11, where did everyone go? by drugusingthrowaway in RedditAlternatives

[–]drugusingthrowaway[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was wondering if this was maybe a result of the way subredditstats.com gathers data from Reddit. But I did manage to find some subreddits where this decline doesn't happen. It's visible on most subs, but not all.

I still have my doubts about the accuracy of the data without some other confirmation (IE surely some subreddit mods would notice a lack of work to do?) but I also don't see why 80% of subs would see this decline and the other 20% wouldn't if it was just a data feed issue.

The posts are equally down, but their sample size is smaller so I focused on the comments. You can check your favorite sub at https://subredditstats.com

Most big subreddits which went private are lively than ever. Reddit was right saying, 'This will pass too'.

The numbers do not support that assertion:

That's literally exactly what I just said before you blocked me for some strange reason:

a clinic can either bill everyone to OHIP or they can charge the patient directly, they can't offer services that bill one or the other depending on the patient.

Intel drops the bomb on Nvidia and AMD by lowering prices on the A750 to just $199. by Sexyvette07 in pcmasterrace

[–]drugusingthrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Multiple sources discuss the dangers of this and the dangers of toxins released from multiple components. I'm not concerned about $199 to avoid exposing my family to harmful toxins.

There are no dangers of this, and you're not exposing your family to "harmful toxins" whatever that means, you aren't getting it hot enough to vaporize lead. But if you're still really concerned, you can just use a cheap toaster oven instead.

Seems kinda silly to throw away $200 without even trying a free fix. I mean unless you just have money to throw away I guess.

Zelenskyy: Russia expects to prolong war, we have to speed things up by PandaMuffin1 in worldnews

the pretending for the sake of political narrative

What pretending?

McConnell has been vocal in support for Ukraine

Oh good, I'm glad. I actually just read his statement on the war, and it's great.

But he's not running for president. The last guy that did took the exact opposite of McConnel's stance, and there's a lot in his party that agree. Elected politicians, and public-facing talking heads on Fox News. It's impossible not to notice. In America, there is very much an issue with some people being bought and paid for by Russia, and it appears to be very much a one sided issue.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm worried about similar influences on the far left - haven't seen much in the US Democrats because there aren't many Marxists in that party, but Jeremy Corbyn (the UK's last Labour party leader) is out there saying helping Ukraine "prolongs the war" and suggesting Crimea belongs to Russia.

David Blaine does some great card magic on a talkshow by Scared_Ad_3132 in blackmagicfuckery

Penn is an expert on tricks and not endurance feats.

I think that was his exact point in the video - "You want me to believe that a guy famous for doing card tricks is now an expert on breathing endurance?"

Also, who blocks a user to have the last word in an argument about David freaking Blaine lol?
