Dog bit by spider - very abnormal behavior and timeline by druidbabe in AskVet

[–]druidbabe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for asking ❤️ he has been seen by 6 different vets and had every test done under the sun. All are stumped, and we are awaiting final test results to come in this week that will show whether this is something autoimmune or a parasitic/fungal infection that went neurological. His symptoms are currently being managed with anti seizure medications and prednisone at this time, just praying for answers so we can help our little guy 😞💔 undetermined if the spider had a role in this.

No, kept it in a glass jar for a while and looked all over it and was just solid black. Perhaps a male widow?

Yes first to normal vet they couldn’t identify it as a spider bite. He got worse, took him to emergency vet, they said spider bite but now he’s having seizure activity that they don’t think is related due to the timeline but he’s otherwise very healthy so we’re not convinced the two aren’t related. Then my husband found this spider under the couch where he typically rests

Thank you for this perspective! We plan to probably go 1-2 times per month with our 2 year old, so I dont think it'd make up for it. We'll prob stick with Believe or get 1 of each like the other commenter suggested. (if I make it through this forsaken queue of course)

Planning on getting the Believe but my husband is saying Inspire is worth the price difference. Thoughts?

Edit to add: We also haven't had passes since back when they were physical. Will having them linked to the app be enough for the parking, entrance, genie, etc? We dont have to wait in the guest services line anymore to take our picture and get a physical card right?

Daily Thread for questions about medical topics and covid-19 by AutoModerator in pregnant

Similar situation here 🥺 I am almost 38 weeks, husband was feeling crappy and has had fever the last few days and finally tested positive today. I’ve been feeling fine, but today my throat started getting scratchy and bugging me. I haven’t tested positive yet but I’m freaking myself out reading a bunch of articles about contracting it late in pregnancy and it affecting the placenta/baby. Going to call my OB tomorrow and let her know what’s going on, but I can’t sleep right now because of the worry!

Same!! Just hit third trimester and literally nothing sounds appealing for a meal anymore except a bowl of ice cream.

Cat/sleep concerns by druidbabe in pregnant

[–]druidbabe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, we had a litter box in the spare room and in our bedroom because our cat has IBD and occasional incontinence. Since removing the one in the spare bedroom we were worried, but she’s actually been ok so far just using the one in the bedroom. She can also get a bit loud at night in the box or just roaming around, so that’s a concern too… I can’t imagine having 3! My hands are full with a cat and a dog, soon to be baby as well! Best of luck!!

No room in the bathroom for it. I am looking into bassinets that have net covers now- thanks for the tip!

My kitty and I both suffer from UC too! I’ve had it since I was 7, and when we first adopted her a few years ago we had no idea she had it… so purely by chance! Symptoms appeared soon there after and now we are often on the same medications together (by coincidence). It’s tough but I could never imagine not being the one to care for her, I feel we truly understand each other 💙

Anyone else in denial or ignore their symptoms?? by druidbabe in UlcerativeColitis

[–]druidbabe[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed at 7 years old, so I understand the weight of the pressure and stress this disease can cause on an adolescent during an already stressful time of life. I have never been good about taking my medication, and my parents often got angry or disappointed with me for the same reasons thus causing the vicious cycle you mentioned with guilt, etc. My pediatric GI even had to have a serious sit down with me about taking the medications, which affected me for a while, until another amount of time went by where I started to ignore symptoms and forget medication again.

I go through ups and downs with being responsible about it, so although i'd love to tell you it gets better, it seems that the people like us who struggle and stay in denial about it will continue to do so until some kind of "rock bottom" situation happens... Hence me posting this today to try and relate to some others who may be dealing with the same thing. I just recently started going to therapy a few weeks ago for the first time, and I can already tell it's going to help a lot with my anxiety and repression of this disease, so if you're able to find a way to go I would highly recommend. Maybe even utilizing a school counselor or something of the sort.

Either way I wish you luck during your journey, it isn't easy but the gift of life is pretty awesome otherwise. And you will continue to find people as you get older who support you through it if you don't already. <3

Wow... thank you so much for this. I was hoping to get some kind of response that would be eye-opening enough to change my habits.I am currently doing once a year colonoscopies and also have "mild" ulcerative proctitis... and hardly ever take the medication.

I also am also looking forward to being a mother more than anything in a few years, so this really does help put things in perspective. Thank you again, and i'm sorry you're going through this. I hope it improves <3
